Pre-K Staff Update
We wanted to share a quick update with our Pre-K families regarding our classroom teachers.
Some families recently received a letter naming Ms. Amber as their child’s teacher. Ms. Amber will be continuing her education and will now be serving as a Pre-K paraprofessional. We are so happy that she will continue to be part of our Pre-K classroom and our school family!
Ms. Tanisha will continue teaching her Pre-K class as planned. If your child’s letter named Ms. Tanisha as their teacher, there is no change for your child.
We are excited to welcome Ms. Mary Roy as our new Pre-K teacher! Ms. Mary brings 31 years of experience in education, including 10 years teaching preschool. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a current Illinois Professional Educator License. She also has extensive experience supporting children’s social-emotional development and creating positive, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Ms. Mary has shared that while she has loved teaching many grade levels, her heart belongs to preschool, and we are so excited to have her join our Pre-K team!
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Mary to our Pre-K family! We are excited about the wonderful year ahead and feel very fortunate to have such an experienced team working with our youngest learners.

There are still openings in the Odin PSD #722 Pre-K For All classes for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full day program and students do not have to live in district to attend pre-k.

✂️ New this year at Registration! ✂️

Getting ready for back to school just got a little easier!

A licensed cosmetologist will be set up in the big gym during registration on Wednesday, July 29 offering basic back to school haircuts for just $10.

📍 Basic cuts only
💵 $10 per haircut
⏰ 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM (during registration)
🎒 For Odin Public School students

No appointments are needed. Haircuts will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Since this is our first year offering this service, we're not sure how many families will take advantage of it. There may be a wait at times, so we appreciate your patience!

We hope this makes getting ready for the new school year a little more convenient.

Exciting News for Clinton, Jefferson, Marion and Washington County Families!

John Consolino, Regional Superintendent, is excited to announce that the Regional Office of Education #13 is now a Local Program Partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! As a Local Program Partner, ROE 13 will support the participation of children ages birth to five in the communities of Clinton, Jefferson, Marion and Washington Counties. The program will provide FREE high-quality books with the goal of facilitating a love of reading and building strong literacy skills regardless of the family’s income.

Regional Superintendent Consolino stated, “Getting books into the hands of our youngest learners as early as possible is one of the most powerful things we can do for their future. By sparking a love for reading before a child even steps foot into a classroom, we aren't just building essential literacy skills, we are enriching their lives and opening doors to a lifetime of learning. We are thrilled to help bring this life-changing program to the families of Clinton, Jefferson, Marion, and Washington Counties. I would also like to thank Nat Shook and the United Way of South-Central Illinois for their collaborative efforts to make this endeavor possible. The South-Central United Way will fund Jefferson County and will also manage registrations for the four counties we serve.”

Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the preeminent early childhood book gifting program in the world. The flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has gifted over 300 million free books in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland. This is achieved through funding shared by The Dollywood Foundation and Local Program Partners like the Regional Office of Education #13. The Imagination Library mails more than 3 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to enrolled children from birth to age five. Dolly envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading and inspiring children to Dream More, Learn More, Care More, Be More™ .

The program has been widely researched, and results demonstrate the positive impact on early childhood development and literacy skills. Penguin Random House is the exclusive publisher for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The Odin PSD Pre-K for All program has openings for this fall!

Families do not need to live in the district to be considered for the program.

Eligibility requirements:
-Children must be at least 3 years old by the start of the school year
-Children may not turn 5 on or before September 1st

🕒 Our program offers full-day Pre-K classes designed to support early learning, school readiness, and social growth in a caring classroom environment.

📌 Important: All children must complete a screening before being considered for placement. Screening dates are included on the flyer attached to this post.

And just like that… 26 little graduates are officially headed to kindergarten!

We celebrated our Pre-K graduation surrounded by a gym FULL of family and friends cheering them. The support shown for these kiddos was amazing!

This group has learned so much this year — letters, numbers, friendships, independence… and somehow also how to ask 47 questions in under 2 minutes. 😂

To our graduates: We are so proud of each and every one of you and cannot wait to see all the amazing things you do.

And to our families — thank you for trusting us and allowing us to be part of your child’s preschool journey. It has truly been a joy watching them grow this year.

Watch out kindergarten, here they come!!
