🚨 SAVE THE DATE: DEA NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY 🚨

Have unused or expired medications sitting at home? This is a safe, simple way to get them out of your home and help protect your family and our community.

📅 Saturday, October 24, 2026
⏰ 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
📍 Basin Lighthouse
426 N. Texas Ave., Odessa

We will accept:
• Prescriptions
• Over-the-counter pills
• Vitamins
• Pet medicine

We cannot accept needles/sharps, mercury thermometers, chemotherapy or radioactive substances, oxygen containers, or pressurized containers/inhalers.

💙 BONUS: Receive one FREE medication lock box per household when you turn in unused or expired medication, while supplies last.

We’ll also have community resource tables and connections to local services, making this a great opportunity to learn more about resources available right here in our community.

Medication collection will be provided courtesy of the Ector County Sheriff’s Office.

💛💙 P2P Coalition — A New Year. A New Direction. ACTION.

Today was more than just our September Pathways to Prevention Coalition meeting.

We took our first coalition picture together — and for me, this picture represents a fresh start. 📸

A new year. New energy. New partnerships. And most importantly, a commitment to turn conversations into ACTION.

We have spent time rebuilding, realigning, and bringing the right people back to the table. Now it’s time to take what we’ve talked about and put it to work in our community.

One of the first areas we are ready to move forward on is supporting efforts around a Smoke-Free Ordinance and having the conversations needed to create healthier, safer spaces for everyone in our community.

And this is only the beginning.

FY27 is going to look different for P2P. We’re strengthening our sectors, recognizing the partners who show up through our new P2P Coalition Spotlight Award, and making sure our coalition is not simply meeting once a month — we are working together toward measurable change.

To everyone who showed up today, brought your voice to the table, and said “I want to be part of this” — thank you.

Today we had the opportunity to bring Hidden in Plain Sight to life with a mock teenage bedroom—and watching participants search the room was a powerful reminder of why prevention education matters.

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary teen’s space. A backpack. A bed. Drinks. Clothes. Everyday items. But when you know what to look for, some ordinary-looking objects can tell a much bigger story.

Participants were challenged to identify items and behaviors that could be potential warning signs of substance use, va**ng, alcohol use, or other risky behaviors. More importantly, we talked about what happens after you notice something: starting conversations, asking questions, building trust, and connecting young people with support.

💡 Hidden in Plain Sight isn’t about teaching adults to “catch” kids. It’s about teaching adults to SEE them.

Prevention starts before a crisis. The more informed our parents, educators, professionals, and community members are, the better prepared we are to recognize concerns early and respond with knowledge instead of fear.

A huge thank you to everyone who jumped in, searched the room, asked questions, and participated today. 💙
