From CrossFit to the Classroom 💪🍎

Our teachers bring more than lessons into their classrooms. They bring their experiences, challenges and stories — and use them to make an impact on their students.

For Cameron Dual Language Elementary 3rd-grade teacher Alexa Serret, that story includes CrossFit.

After discovering the sport while teaching in Spain, Alexa kept showing up, getting stronger and pushing herself beyond what she thought was possible. This summer, that journey took her to San Jose, California, where she competed in the 2026 CrossFit Games and finished 9th in the Adaptive Division.

Living with Cerebral Palsy, Alexa knows what it feels like to face challenges and be treated differently. Today, she shares those experiences with her students to teach them about perseverance, hard work and believing in what they can accomplish.

From the CrossFit floor to her classroom at Cameron, Alexa is showing her students that some of the most meaningful lessons are the ones we live. ❤️

It's been a busy evening. A new school board member was sworn in, returning the board to its full capacity of seven. Trustees then adopted the new, lower tax rate for the 2026-27 school year, and made a donation to Odessa College that will hopefully drive up the number of school bus drivers.

80 of our teachers have ! ⬆️

Tonight, we recognized 80 ECISD teachers who reached a new milestone through the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), a state program designed to recognize and financially reward highly effective teachers.

These educators earned the title of TIA Level Up teachers by improving their designation, moving from Recognized to Exemplary or from Exemplary to Master.

And those designations can make a significant impact. Last year, 532 ECISD teachers received TIA awards ranging from $3,393 to $22,825, with more than $6.3 million distributed to ECISD teachers through the program.

The program continues to grow, too. A year ago, student data was collected for 900 teachers. This year, that number has grown to more than 1,300 teachers, creating opportunities for even more ECISD educators to qualify for TIA awards.

A night of recognition and celebration at ECISD's Monthly Board Meeting! 👏

Tonight’s meeting began with Vasquez Middle School student Braxton Batten leading the pledges of allegiance, followed by an invocation from Pastor Burke Millard of Crossroads Church.

Then, we put the spotlight on excellence across ECISD!

🍎 80 TIA Level Up teachers were recognized for advancing their Teacher Incentive Allotment designation to Exemplary or Master.

🎓 We also celebrated 148 AP Scholars recognized for their outstanding performance on Advanced Placement exams.

Congratulations to all of tonight’s honorees! 🌟

A one-of-a-kind learning experience is taking shape at Burleson Early Education Center - ECISD!

The Oral Written Language Lab gives students a place to learn through storytelling, play, writing and high-quality children’s literature. There are currently only 12 certified Oral Written Language Labs in Texas, and the lab at Burleson is working toward becoming the first certified lab of its kind in West Texas.

Take a look inside this special space where students are building early literacy skills, using their imaginations and finding their voices.

School is better with art!
It is , we celebrate the creativity happening in classrooms, studios and stages across ECISD. 🎨

More than 22,000 ECISD students (72% of our student population) receive fine arts instruction each week, giving them opportunities to create, perform, connect and discover what they can do.

And that commitment continues to earn recognition. ECISD has been named a Texas Art Education Association District of Distinction for the 6th consecutive year and one of the Best Communities for Music Education for the 12th year in a row.

The awards are worth celebrating, but what they represent matters even more: thousands of students finding a place to learn, belong and shine through the arts.

On this Patriot Day, we honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸

Recently, Permian High School baseball players visited Memorial Garden Park to help raise American flags in remembrance—a simple act of service honoring a day our nation will never forget.

Today, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the unity that followed. We will never forget.

If you take a quick look inside Vasquez Middle School, you’ll find a campus already full of life, learning and plenty of Diamondback pride. 💚🐍

From bright new spaces to classrooms filled with students and teachers making the campus their own, Adela & Gilbert Vasquez Middle School is settling into its first year in West Odessa. The new Bond 2023 campus opened its doors this August, creating a new place for students to learn, grow and build a school community together.

And judging by the energy around campus, the Diamondbacks are off to a great start.
