🎉 Grant Recipient Spotlight! 🎉

Each week, we’re celebrating one of the incredible educators selected to receive a 2026–2027 Education Foundation Grant!

This week, we’re excited to recognize Barbara Hirst from Burnet Elementary for her grant titled "Pop2Read: A Gamified Literacy Lab for Struggling Readers" in the amount of $565.91. This project is targeted reading intervention designed to accelerate literacy growth for struggling students in grades 2-5. The project focuses on students who are performing below grade level and transforms traditional intervention into an engaging, student-centered experience by incorporating hands-on, fidget-based literacy games that promote active participation and repeated skill practice.

Through the generosity of our donors and community partners, the Education Foundation is proud to invest in innovative ideas that enhance learning, inspire students, and give ECISD educators additional tools to make a difference.

👏 Congratulations, Ms.Hirst! We can’t wait to see the impact this grant will have on your students.

Whether it’s sharing a favorite story, cheering from the sidelines, helping with homework, or simply being there with a hug and a listening ear, grandparents play an important role in helping children learn, grow, and dream big. 📚✨
