The power of teamwork is unmatched. Visually impaired runner Libby Clegg and #Paralympic guide, Chris Clarke, ran wrist to wrist, perfectly synchronized, and won gold in the 100-meter and 200-meter races at the Paralympic Games in 2016. Clarke didn’t qualify for England’s national team and couldn’t compete in the 2016 Olympics, but his journey wasn’t over. He and Clegg trained for two months together so the competition would feel as natural as possible—and it paid off! We’re highlighting remarkable #womeninsports history leading up to #Paris2024. All eight modules of Unlocking the Foundations of Reading for Students with Visual Impairments are now available in the APH Hive! This free course, which offers ACVREP credits, will help both new and experienced educators enhance their expertise in teaching reading to students who are blind or low vision.

Generous scholarships are available through ACB! ACB offers educational scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $7,500 for entering freshmen, undergraduate and graduate students, and students attending technical college. This program awards students with scholarships to help with educational financial needs such as tuition, fees, room and board, and assistive technology. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must:

👉 Be legally blind
👉 Maintain a 3.0 GPA (for most scholarships)
👉 Be a full-time student OR a part-time student who works at least 32 hours per week and attends college part-time
👉 Be involved in their school and local community.
