Congrats, Ethan Ward! Falcons Up!

We are proud to introduce you to our NEW Associate Orchestra Director: Ethan Ward!
Ethan is a graduate of Permian High School where he played viola and was a 3 year member of Satin Strings and Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Todd Berridge & Kathryn Sabrsula. Mr. Ward was also a trumpet player in the Mighty MOJO Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Black Cat Jazz Band, under the direction of Jeff Whitaker, John Carroll, Trey Burns and Dr. Lyndsay Eiben.
Mr. Ward graduated from the University of Texas Permian Basin in 2021 where he received his Bachelor of Music with an EC-12 Teaching Certification. During his time at UTPB, Mr. Ward studied trumpet under the instruction of Clayton Harris and Michael Santorelli, he was an inaugural member of the Falcon Marching Band and served as Drum Major for two consecutive years, he was principal trumpet for the Symphonic Orchestra in addition to the University Wind Ensemble and was a tenor in the Men’s and University Choir’s.
Mr. Ward began his teaching career in McCamey where he served as the Assistant Band Director, his responsibilities included teaching Elementary Music and team teaching the Middle School and High School Bands. Throughout the 2021-2022 School Year the McCamey Bands earned many accolades, the most notable include most outstanding Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion at the 2021 Concho Classic, Superior ratings at Region Marching Contest, Area Finalist in the 2A Area Marching Competition, and Sweepstakes at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation.
Mr. Ward is excited to return to his hometown and to serve Permian HS as an educator to continue the legacy of the directors that instilled in him the love and appreciation that he has for music!

We are super excited and thrilled to announce Dr. Lyndsay Eiben as our new Associate Director of Bands at UTPB!!
Dr. Lyndsay Eiben is the Associate Director of Bands and Adjunct Professor of Flute at the University of Texas Permian Basin. Dr. Eiben studied music at West Texas A&M University where she received a Bachelor of Music Performance in 2008 and a Master of Music Performance in 2010. During her time at WTAMU, Dr. Eiben was Associate Principal of the Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Opera and performed with the Amarillo Little Theatre. She also worked as a private flute instructor for Canyon and Randall County Independent School Districts. In 2010, Dr. Eiben was accepted into the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music to pursue a doctorate in music. While in Ohio, she performed with many professional groups such as Cincinnati Landmark Productions, the Showboat Majestic Theater, and the Covedale Center for Performing Arts. Dr. Eiben has also been a finalist for national flute competitions such as Myrna Brown and the National Flute Association Young Artist competition. After completing graduate work, Dr. Eiben moved back to Odessa in the August of 2013 to pursue a career in teaching band. She spent nearly a decade in secondary education and was an Associate Director of Bands at Permian High School. While at Permian, Dr. Eiben’s students earned admission into the 6A TMEA All-State Bands and earned superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-reading evaluations and Solo and Ensemble competitions. Dr. Eiben is the principal flutist of the West Texas Symphony and the West Texas Winds. She holds professional memberships in the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the National Flute Association.

Hey!! Did you know that we have a Summer Band Camp????
UTPB will be hosting a Summer Band Camp from June 6-11th! We have an agenda full of fun music and other activities starting at 9am on UTPB’s Main Campus. In addition to full ensemble music, there are also opportunities to learn more from music elective classes in music theory, conducting, and more! We will close our camp with a concert at 7pm at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center on the Midland Campus of UTPB. We hope you can join us! To register, please go to utpb.edu/music and follow the link to the “Music Marketplace” to register for the camp. Falcons Up!

It is our honor to announce Bryan Braue will be our new Director of Bands at UTPB!! We're so excited for this new chapter in our history, and we can't wait to get started! Falcons Up!!
We are ecstatic to announce that our new Director of Bands is Bryan Braue! To learn more about Bryan read his bio below.
DR. BRYAN T. BRAUE has recently been appointed as the Director of Bands for the University of Texas Permian Basin, where his teaching responsibilities include heading the Falcon Marching Band and overseeing the Athletic Bands Department, Conducting the University Symphonic Winds, and teaching courses in Instrumental Conducting and Music Education.
A native of Vero Beach, Florida, Bryan would earn his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Stetson University while studying under Dr. Bobby Adams, Mr. Anthony Hose, and Dr. David Coash. In 2006, he became the Director of Bands for Clearwater High School, where his teaching responsibilities included the Marching Band, Symphonic Winds, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Music Theory, and Music History. In addition to his Clearwater High School responsibilities, Dr. Braue also served as the Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Clearwater Christian College, was the District Chairman for the Florida Bandmasters Association District IX, and was Chairman for the Pinellas All-County Secondary Bands.
From 2011-2013, he would attend the University of South Florida, earning a Masters in Instrumental Conducting while studying under Dr. John Carmichael, Dr. Matthew McCutchen, and Dr. William Wiedrich. Upon his graduation in 2013, Bryan was appointed as the Assistant Director of Bands for the University of South Florida, a position he would serve in for six years. During his tenure at USF he worked with the University’s Marching Band, Basketball Pep Band, Show Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Bands. Additionally, Dr. Braue taught courses in Music Education and served as the Executive Director for the schools Summer Music Camps program, Festival of Winds, and Symphonic Celebration.
In the fall of 2019, Bryan would begin his Doctoral studies in Instrumental Conducting at the University of Florida, where he studied under Dr. David Waybright, Professor Jay Watkins, and Dr. Chip Birkner. While completing his course work, his responsibilities included co-teaching Basic Conducting, serving as a Graduate Conductor for the University’s Wind Symphony and Monday Night Concert Band, and assisted with the Gator Marching Band in multiple facets, including drill writing, music arranging, and co-teaching the Drumline.
Outside his teaching responsibilities at UTPB, Dr. Braue is an active clinician, guest conductor, freelance percussionist, and adjudicator. He is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association, The Florida Bandmasters Association, The National Band Directors Association, The College Band Directors National Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and Sigma Alpha Iota.
