When thinking of my purpose in life and what brings me the most joy, music is at the top of the list. My mentor taught me to be open to new experiences and to yearn to learn something new as often as possible. Teaching music all

ows me to learn as much from my students as they learn from me. I teach many instruments including all guitars (acoustic, electric, bass), piano/keyboard, violin, cello, mandolin, banjo, and flute. I also teach singing, music theory, and songwriting. Students range in age from 5 through ?? I've worked with many bucket-listers! My oldest student started when he was 86. Lessons are available in-studio or online in real time through Zoom. Hybrid lessons available also - meet in studio one week and on Zoom the next. Zoom also works if you are traveling and want to keep up with your lessons. To get the best out of the Zoom experience, our time together should be distraction free with little outside noise (preferably none as it severely affects sound quality). It is recommended that students age 5-7 have parental assistance during the lesson. Please contact me for more information and how we can start your musical journey. A new study found that learning music strengthens memory, focus, problem-solving, and language skills by activating both sides of the brain at once. Unlike coding, which mainly builds logic, music also lights up creativity, emotion, and collaboration giving students a fuller mental workout. 🎶

Experts say starting with music doesn’t just boost intelligence it can actually make learning to code easier later on.

So maybe the best way to raise future innovators… is to hand them an instrument first. 🎹🎻

Here's a short clip of one of my private music students entertaining the audience at the St. John Lutheran School spring concert last evening. She asked more than a year ago if she could do something like this and I celebrate her courage to do this in front of classmates, family, and community! Her performance was nearly flawless. Who could ask for more?
