✂️🤎 Another fresh cut for one of my regulars!

We’ve been on a mission with this little guy’s infamous front cowlick 😂 It has always wanted to go its own direction, so we’ve been working on training it to push forward—and I’m finally starting to see it cooperate!

For this cut, we cleaned up the sides and neckline while keeping plenty of length and texture through the top. I love getting to watch a client’s hair change over time and figuring out what works best with their natural growth patterns instead of trying to force their hair into something it doesn’t want to do.

And honestly… that cowlick may be stubborn, but we’re winning the battle. 😂✂️

I’ve been staring at this for a minute because, honestly, it’s hard to put into words how much this means to me. 🥹🤍

Building Earth & Essence Hair Studio has been such a huge leap of faith. Being a solo stylist means that every appointment, every consultation, every color formula, every haircut, and every little detail is something I pour myself into. So seeing that my guests continue to take the time to leave such kind reviews genuinely means the world to me.

45 people have taken the time to leave a rating, and somehow we’re sitting at a perfect 5.0. 🥹✨

Of course, no stylist is perfect and I'm always learning, growing, and figuring things out along the way — but knowing that my guests feel heard, cared for, and happy when they leave my chair is what matters most to me.

And while I’m incredibly grateful for the 5.0, I also want to say that I genuinely welcome honest feedback. If you ever have a bad experience in my chair, feel like I missed the mark, or even feel like I simply wasn’t the right stylist for you, I hope you’ll feel comfortable talking to me about it. ✨ A little behind-the-scenes reality check from behind the chair… ✨

This guest came in wanting a complete gray blend, and while we had a beautiful vision in mind, her hair decided to throw us a little curveball. 😂 We ended up with a hot root that needed some extra attention, so I had to troubleshoot and correct it before we could call this transformation finished.

One thing I really try to do as a stylist is not automatically rely on a root tap or root smudge to hide things unless that's specifically the look my guest wants. Root smudging is absolutely a technique I use when it's intentional, but personally, I sometimes feel like using it just to cover up a color that didn't turn out quite right is cheating. 😅

I want to understand why something happened and actually correct it when I can—not just put a darker color over it and hope nobody notices. Sometimes that means taking an extra step, making an adjustment, and trusting the process.

And thankfully… we got there. 🥹🤍

The final result turned out absolutely gorgeous, and I'm so happy we didn't settle for “good enough.” ✨

Hair doesn't always go perfectly according to plan, and that's okay. What matters is knowing how to recognize it, troubleshoot it, and get your guest to the result they deserve. That's the part of being a stylist you don't always see in the pretty after photos. 🤍

Such a hard goodbye to a true legend. Someone who brought so much joy, laughter, and music into the world. Dolly Parton was truly one of a kind, and there will never be another quite like her

As someone who works in the beauty industry, I can't help but love this quote from her:

“I think the most important thing a woman can have — next to her talent, of course — is her hairdresser.” ✨💇🏼‍♀️

Dolly understood the magic of big hair, big dreams, and even bigger kindness. Her signature look became instantly recognizable, but what made her truly beautiful was always so much more than her appearance. She showed generations of women that you could be unapologetically yourself, dream big, work hard, come from next to nothing, and still lead with kindness.

Her music, her unmistakable style, and her larger-than-life personality will continue to be loved for generations. 💕 She was a reminder that you never have to shrink yourself to fit someone else's idea of who you should be, and that being a little extra is sometimes exactly what makes you unforgettable. ✨

This bright blue halo gives us that perfect pop of vivid color underneath, creating a bold peekaboo effect that comes to life with movement and different hairstyles. 💙

I absolutely LOVE how electric this blue turned out! There's just something about a vivid blue that instantly makes a look feel more fun and unapologetic. 🦋💙

Vivid color doesn't always have to be all or nothing. A halo is a great way to add some personality while still keeping plenty of your natural/other color visible.

🦋✨ Butterfly cut + baby bangs = the perfect combination of soft movement and a little edge. ✂️🖤

This cut was all about creating tons of movement, dimension, and face-framing while keeping the overall length. We went in with heavily layered butterfly-style shaping to create those dramatic, swooping layers and airy volume throughout the hair.

And of course, we finished it off with baby bangs for a little extra personality. 😍 There's just something about a bold fringe paired with tons of layers that completely changes the vibe of a haircut!

I absolutely love how much personality a good haircut can bring out. Sometimes you don't need to lose your length or make a drastic change—you just need the right shape, the right layers, and a little ✨attitude✨.

But this isn't the final look… 👀

We've since completely transformed her color, and let's just say… you'll want to stay tuned for that transformation. 🎨🖤✨

One year behind the chair. Two years chasing my dream. 💚✂️

It's hard to believe that August marks one year of officially working in the hair industry.

Just two years ago, I was walking into cosmetology school with a dream, a lot of determination, and absolutely no idea where this journey would take me. Since then, I've graduated, earned my Wisconsin cosmetology license, opened my own private salon suite, continued my education, earned my Danger Jones Elite Expert certification, and met some of the most amazing people along the way.

This year has been filled with so many unforgettable moments. I've had the privilege of helping brides feel beautiful on their wedding day, creating bold vivid transformations, so many hair cuts and colors, celebrating big life milestones with my clients, and building relationships that go far beyond hair. Every person who has trusted me with their hair has helped shape the stylist I am today.

Owning a business has also taught me that success isn't always glamorous. There have been long days, late nights, unexpected challenges, and moments that tested me in ways I never expected. But every obstacle has made me stronger, more confident, and even more grateful that I chose this career.

To every client who's sat in my chair, every person who's shared my work, recommended me, left a review, or simply cheered me on—thank you. Your support has made this dream possible, and I truly wouldn't be here without you.

I'm incredibly proud of how far I've come in just one year, but I know this is only the beginning. I can't wait to continue growing, learning, creating, and giving each of you the best experience I possibly can.
