Breezy Acres Stables is a small, family owned facility located 23 miles North of Green Bay,WI. Our goal is to provde the best possible care for your horse the way nature intended. We are constantly seeking out educational opportunities in order to continue to provide the best care. We provide a calm and supportive setting in order to reach your horsemanship goals. Our focus is to ride our horses t

he way they want to be ridden. We have monthly workshops to support our horsemanship journey. We ride together quite often to provide support and constructive feedback.....and of course to have fun!

We were at the fair this weekend. Here’s the kids on the ride called Extreme. Used to be called the freak out.

I went on one ride. The ride itself doesn’t scare me too bad. What scares me is when they buckle you in.

Sounds crazy but I get extremely claustrophobic.

People often think the things their horses are scared of are silly or ridiculous.

They’re prey animals. Their vision is completely different than ours. Their amygdala’s are one of the largest of any animal. They are flight animals.

Think of what may scare you that may seem silly to someone else.

We all have things that may seem irrational to others. Even our horses.

I was walking both of my mares in yesterday. As we walked I thought, why are we walking so slow? Then I picked up my pace!

My mares are both good at keeping step with me. They were both following my lead. They were walking slow cause I was walking slow!

Next time your horse does something. Pause. Take a moment and figure out what you are doing.

Maybe they are just following your lead.

Yes! That is a photo of my boarder collie on top of the grill.

We often limit our animals. We miss cues from the animal. We don’t give correct cues at the correct times. We can frustrated when our animal doesn’t do what our expectation was.

When I brought Shine in, I said to her “teach me better horsemanship”. We think we are teaching the horses and often we are.

More importantly to me, they are always teaching us!

Now back to the dog on the grill! Thankfully not a hot dog cause the grill was cold!
If I had asked her to jump up on the grill without knocking it over and balance up there, it would have been a disaster. But look how well she did all on her own 😬

This past weekend we had Natalie Fuller from NF Equines here for an Intro to Liberty clinic.

I only got one good picture! I somehow managed to take a pic of someone’s boots and I got a pic of Shine eating hay during a break

Natalie is very good with the horses and has such a kind heart. It is so good to see a young person with so much knowledge and dedication be able to share it with others.

I don’t know if it will work this year, but we will definitely be having her back!
