Offered for the first time in the Midwest (Wisconsin), Connie Lagerhausen Master Trainer for FitnessFest will be instructing an in-person, nationally recognized Aqua Fitness Instructor Certification. The event will take place at the Roehl Family YMCA (formerly Pabst Farms YMCA) in Oconomowoc on November 14th.

Hey Wisconsin Aqua Friends did you all know...indoor swimming started here!!

DID YOU KNOW 💦 Milwaukee was home to America’s first public INDOOR pool — which opened in its first NATATORIUM in 1889!

For those unfamiliar, natatoriums were public bathhouse/pools that were very popular from the late 1800s until the mid-1950s.

Milwaukee had seven — all red, brick buildings, neoclassical in style, with first-floor pools and balcony-level changing rooms.

According to a local newspaper article, nearly 700,000 people used the city’s natatoriums in 1921. But, by 1949, attendance dropped to less than 500,000 — while the cost of running each facility jumped from $65,275 in 1921 to $154,648 in ‘48.

By 1977, all seven had closed and two were demolished. The other five are still standing today!

Awesome article bodes well with the Agua Yoga/barefoot session I presented at SCW MANIA - Fitness Education (Midwest Style.) Thank you to all who attended. So much fun!!

Despite all of the proposed dangers, it turns out there are benefits to walking barefoot, or Earthing, for your overall health.
