Strong writing instruction involves more than correcting grammar or telling a student what to change.

Students need someone who can help them understand why a piece of writing is or isn’t working and show them how to make stronger decisions on their own.

Evelyn W. works with our middle and high school ELA students, including AP Language and AP Literature students and those preparing college essays. Her experience scoring both AP Language and AP Literature exams for the College Board gives her valuable insight into how student writing is evaluated. Just as importantly, she knows how to turn that experience into feedback a student can actually use.

Parents sometimes hesitate to explore tutoring because they aren’t sure what the commitment will involve or how long their student may need support.

Does tutoring mean every week for the rest of the school year? Not necessarily.

Some students need short-term help getting through a difficult unit or catching up after falling behind. Others benefit from consistent weekly support because they need more repetition, help staying organized or a place to ask questions without feeling rushed.

At Simplify It, we consider what each student needs rather than assuming tutoring must continue indefinitely. When a student appears ready to try working more independently, the tutor may talk with the parent about reducing sessions, moving to every other week or giving the student a chance to fly on their own.

There is no single timeline that works for every student. The goal is to provide the right level of support for as long as it is genuinely helpful.

Around this point in the school year, the pace and rigor often begin to pick up.

A student who seemed to be managing well at first may suddenly struggle to keep up with classwork and homework. When assignments begin piling up or concepts start building faster than they can absorb them, confidence can take a hit too.

That doesn’t necessarily mean a student can’t do the work. Sometimes they need help identifying what they missed, breaking the material into manageable pieces and catching up before one difficult week turns into several.

It can be difficult to know whether an SAT/ACT prep course will be the right fit for your student before enrolling.

We are offering a limited number of complimentary preview seats for the first ELA session of our upcoming live online SAT/ACT Prep Course.

Students will join the actual class, meet the instructor and experience the format before deciding whether they would like to continue.

The course alternates each week between math and ELA. Math sessions are taught by Lisa G., who has taught high school math through calculus and contributed to the development of Florida’s Algebra 1 EOC. ELA sessions are taught by Evelyn W., an experienced middle and high school ELA tutor who has scored AP Language and AP Literature exams for the College Board.

The preview session is online on Wednesday, September 30, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET. Students who choose to continue may enroll in the complete course at the regular tuition of $649. If the student decides it is not the right fit, there is no charge and no obligation.
