We're glad you found our quaint little country school nestled in beautiful Fire Mountain! El Camino Preschool is family owned and operated with a long-standing excellent reputation in North County- and we have the Waitlist to prove it! Long ago we brought our focus to the outdoor classroom to take advantage of our natural play areas and sunny California weather- who doesn't love fresh air! Virtually everything available indoors is outdoor to explore as well. We aim to provide the BEST early childhood program in the area, so we only hire the best.

Requirements:

*A minimum of 12 Early Childhood Credits (including Child/Fam/Comm, Child Dev, and a curriculum course) Courses in progress will be considered.
*The ability to work until 4-5pm most days of the week (M-F 10a-4p is our current greatest need)
*Ability to lift 30lbs
*A GREAT attitude and ability to be a team player and teacher.
*A basic knowledge of Early Child Development with the understanding that our ultimate goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of each child we're entrusted with.

Our preschool teachers must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include: knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods, as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention, and the willingness to get down to their level and be one of their first , amazing friends!

Responsibilities:

-Execute an imaginative and creative program suitable for preschool children.
Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children.
-Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
-Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities
-Organize nap and snack hours, and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times.
-Communicate with parents regularly through our school wide app
-Collaborate with other educators.
-Maintain a clean, tidy and sanitized classroom consistent with current and ongoing health and safety standards.

Skills:

-Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher
-Clear understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
-Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
-Excellent communication and instructional skills
-Ability to act as mediator between children
-Imaginative, friendly, and reliable
-Certification in child First Aid and CPR preferred
-ECE units to qualify as a preschool teacher

From the Eric Carle Team: It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eric Carle, author and illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and many other beloved classics, passed away on Sunday, May 23rd at the age of 91.

When asked why he thinks The Very Hungry Caterpillar has remained popular for so long, Carle said, “I think it is a book of hope. Children need hope. You, little insignificant caterpillar can grow up into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the world with your talent.”

El Camino Preschool has been serving North county children for over 35 years! Our family owned and operated preschool is located on 3/4 acres of country landscape in the quiet Fire Mountain neighborhood of Oceanside. Long ago we had brought our focus to our outdoor classrooms to take advantage of our nature play areas and sunny California weather- which has worked to our benefit in the current health situation we find ourselves in. Virtually everything available indoors is outdoor to explore as well.

Our preschool teachers must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include: knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods, as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies, and build self-esteem and independence.
-Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
-Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities.
-Organize nap and snack hours, and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times.
-Communicate with parents clearly, professionally, and regularly through our school wide app.
-Collaborate with other educators and be a team player.
-Maintain a clean, tidy, and sanitized classroom consistent with current and ongoing health and safety standards.

SKILLS

-Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher
-Clear understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
-Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
-Excellent communication and instructional skills
-Ability to act as mediator between children
-Imaginative, friendly, and reliable
-Certification in child First Aid and CPR preferred
-ECE units to qualify as a preschool teacher (12 completed, or 6 if currently working on degree)
-Flexibility, ability to think and act quickly in developing situations, and 'can-do' disposition regarding change and the unknown
