Meet Taya 🩵

Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, Taya has called Oceanside home for the past four years and has been part of the Surf Salutations community since April 2025.

She first found us after a client invited her to try a class, and since then, the studio has become a regular part of her week. You’ll find her mixing it up with Sculpt, Power, Strength and Fusion, often in the early morning before the day gets busy.

One of our favorite things Taya shared:
“Just showing up is already a win.”

She’s learned to focus less on comparing herself to others and more on becoming stronger, more consistent, and kinder to herself along the way.

And if you see Taya around the studio, be sure to give her a BIG congratulations—she got married last weekend! 🤍💍 We’re so happy for her and loved getting to celebrate this exciting season of life with her.

As Surf Salutations continues to grow, we want to make sure the experience of being part of this community grows right along with it.

You already know and love Myla from the studio, and we’re so excited to share that she’s stepping into an additional role as our Member Experience Lead!
Myla will be working closely with Megan to help us listen more intentionally, better understand what our community needs, strengthen the connections between our members, and continue creating an experience that feels supportive, welcoming + personal.

You’ll still see her teaching across the modalities you love — but now you’ll also have another familiar face dedicated to making your experience at Surf Sal the best it can be. 🫶

Plot twist: we hope you’re still here. 👀

We’re not trying to be the studio for everyone — but we care a LOT about being your studio if this sounds like you.

• We respect the time + experience of everyone in the room, so we start on time.
• We omit mirrors for mind-body connection.
• We believe strength + length belong together.
• We know harder isn’t always better.
• We’ll probably learn your name (and eventually ask you to grab coffee 😉).
• We take movement seriously — ourselves, not so much.
• And we’ll never pretend we’ve mastered our craft. We’re students, too.

Today we kicked off our very first Surf Salutations Coffee Club Meetup! Coffee, a coastal walk + ocean dip 🌊☕️🤍

Every quarter, we’ll invite a different little mix of our members—some brand new, some who’ve been around for years, and some who have probably taken class next to each other 100 times but never actually met.

The idea is simple: get outside the studio, get to know each other beyond the mat (or dumbbells 😜), make some new connections, and give us a chance to know YOU better too.

We’ll keep rotating through our members each quarter, so more Coffee Club mornings to come.

Thanks to our first crew for being our guinea pigs! We’re excited to do this again with another mix of members next quarter!

More exercises ≠ a better workout. 👀

At Surf Salutations, we believe in intentional programming over random movement.

Our Sculpt and Mat Pilates classes are thoughtfully sequenced to target specific muscle groups, layer resistance, manipulate tempo, and create enough fatigue to actually challenge the muscles we’re working.

Today’s focus for our Sculpt classes was biceps + shoulders 🔥 inner + outer thighs 🔥

You’ll sweat, yes. But the goal isn’t just to leave tired—it’s to leave stronger.
