A project is well underway to install a flag pole at the Oceanside Masonic Center. This is a rendition of what the flag pole and flag will look like when completed in July. While working on this image I realized that the tall evergreen tree had been removed from the corner of the school lot (previously behind the container).

Oceanside Lodge recently purchased two picnic tables with benches and a large Blackstone Gas Grill. Our Inspector, Master, and brothers gathered on Saturday morning to assemble the items ahead of our Freedom Day BBQ.

Improvements in and around the lodge continue to occur while we are still making new masons, advancing others, and enjoying fellowship. Later this month we will participate in the Oceanside Freedom Day parade, as we have done for over 40 years.

Tonight, on 5/7, Mr. May took his first step in Freemasonry as an Entered Apprentice Mason. Some might say it was written in the stars… or at least in the calendar.
Inspired by the example set by his grandfather, a Mason himself, this journey is more than a new chapter — it’s a continuation of a family legacy built on honor, brotherhood, and service.
From one generation to the next, the light continues to shine. Congratulations, Brother May, on beginning your Masonic journey. 🔨📖✨

On Monday evening we held our monthly stated meeting dinner followed by the business meeting. Brother Fiuza (pictured front row on right) prepared and cooked an excellent Brazilian BBQ for everyone to enjoy. In addition to the business we heard a great proficiency from brother Walker, and presented Wor. Snow an antique gold Masonic ring.

Oceanside-San Dieguito Lodge initiated a new member on Thursday evening, with the support of several other north county lodges. Brother Cline has been attending our public dinners/social events for several months and asked for membership.

Our April Stated meeting dinner was well attended by men interested in freemasonry. We welcomed two visitors and approved the applications of two prospects. We will initiate candidates within the next 30-40 days, pending their availability and the lineup of members.

We are collaborating with Vista Lodge to introduce Brother Pedersen as a second Fellowcraft candidate on February 17th. Vista Lodge already has a candidate and a complete cast for their degree. By utilizing their cast, we can expedite the advancement of Brother Pedersen.
Degree at 6:30pm followed by refreshments afterward. ** Vista Lodge **

A Message from the East
To my Brethren of Oceanside-San Dieguito Lodge #381,
It is with a profound sense of humility and gratitude that I write to you following our annual installation of officers. Standing before you as the Master of this Lodge is an honor I do not take lightly, and I am deeply moved by the trust you have placed in me to lead us through the coming year.
As I reflected during the ceremony, my journey into the Masonic family began in a way I never could have predicted. Forty years ago, I was introduced to these values by my wife, who was then a dedicated majority member of the Massachusetts Rainbow Girls.
At twenty-four years old, living on the East Coast, I never could have imagined that my path would lead me across the country to join a California Lodge in 2011. Even less could I have envisioned that in 2026, I would be installed as the Master of this distinguished Lodge. It has been, in every sense, an amazing spiritual journey—one defined by fellowship, personal growth, and the "mystic tie" that binds us all.
My goal for this year is simple: I am listening. I want to hear your ideas, your concerns, and your hopes for our future. Together, we will work to ensure that Oceanside-San Dieguito #381 not only thrives internally but is recognized as a vital and generous asset within our local community.
To ensure every brother stays informed and connected, I am pleased to announce that we are re-activating the monthly Trestleboard. This will be our primary method of delivery to ensure timely updates. For those who prefer a physical copy or do not use email, a limited number of printed versions will be available at the Lodge.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Mark Read
