The H Academy Class of 2026 💜🩵

For those of you who don’t know, Brittany Humes & Arielle Hamill are the co-founders of The H Academy, the 2 H’s in The H Academy!

In 2017, Ms. Hamill asked Ms. Humes what she thought about quitting their teaching jobs and opening their own pre-school. They dreamed about all of the possibilities of how they could change the education system. They are passionate about educating the whole child- no one child is the same and no child fits in a one size fits all box.

In 2018, they began touring buildings that could potentially be their school. When they toured 3161 Royal Avenue - it was perfect! It had 1 straight hallway with only 4 classrooms. At that moment they realized that their dreams were about to become reality. After 2 very long years of licensing and permits they finally received their license on March 3, 2020. After many sleepless COVID nights, The H Academy opened its doors on September 9, 2020.

They opened their doors with only 4 children and only Ms. Humes and Ms. Hamill. By the end of the 20-21 school year, they had 10 children. To start off the 21-22 school year they had 28 children and ended it with 51 children and teachers too, finally filling their classrooms. As the old saying goes, the rest is history.

The H Academy’s mission has always been clear - to ensure that every Academy student achieves their own personal best. They work to meet each child where they are as an individual, not where anyone or thing deems they should be. They strive to give each student a well-rounded foundation.

The H Academy is tucked away behind the train station, not on a main road, not passed daily by thousands - they are a hidden gem. Without the power of word of mouth, social media, and creating meaningful community connections, they would not be where they are today.

They would also not be where they are today without all of the women who put their heart and soul into The H Academy every day. Ms. Humes and Ms. Hamill started The H Academy, but the teachers and providers are the true back bone of The H Academy.

If you could not already tell, The H Academy is more than a pre-school, they are a family – one that they could not be prouder to say is their home.

We can NOT believe that tomorrow is almost here!! There are still not enough words to describe the honor in being Business of the Year!! We love what we do and we work hard to provide excellence in early childhood education to the Oceanside community and beyond! We are appreciative and truly grateful that the Oceanside NY Chamber of Commerce recognizes our dedication to Oceanside’s tiniest life long learners 💜🩵

The H Academy is a women owned and run school and we couldn’t be more proud of all we have accomplished! This week was not only Barbie’s Birthday 💖 💁🏼‍♀️ but it was International Women’s Day as well! “If you can dream it, you can be it!” 💜🩵

We’re always filled with love and kisses at The H Academy! ❤️ But this year one of our incredible Academy parents created us a Kissing Booth 💋to be able to share our love! Happy Valentine’s Day from our loved filled family to yours! 🥰
