I could not agree more. Reading to your child on you lap or next to them on the bed leads them to have warm memories that last a lifetime and encourage them to read as they outgrow your lap.

Today I am thinking about all the Veterans who have served our country throughout the history of our nation. I am so GRATEFUL for their service to keep our nation free and safe, then and now!

School is well underway now! It is time for parents to reach out to teacher or check their students’ grades online to be sure they are doing well and not falling behind. If their performance is not what you thank it should be, get involved right away to turn things around. From my countless years of teaching experience, I have learned that waiting longer to intervene rarely works if things aren’t going well by now. For older students in 5th, 6th grades or higher it is nearly impossible to bring up a failing grade by the end of the semester in another month or so. The way averaging test grades just makes it unrealistic to bring up an average below 50 too late in the year, without intervention. NOW is the time to get help for struggling students BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE to significantly change things for the better.
