What an incredible day at Oceano Elementary! Today, our students became paleontologists, scientists, mathematicians, and problem-solvers during our first Digging Deeper Day!
Throughout the day, students rotated through hands-on stations where they:
🦴 Excavated and identified fossils
📍 Used grids to document fossil locations like real paleontologists
📏 Measured and recorded their discoveries
🧮 Solved dinosaur-themed math challenges
🔐 Worked together to solve puzzles and Breakout challenges
🔎 Learned how paleontologists use evidence to understand animals and environments from long ago
And, of course, there were some pretty exciting discoveries! Students received replica dinosaur eggs, dinosaur teeth, and fossils throughout their stations to help make the experience even more memorable.
A HUGE thank you to all of our parent volunteers who gave their time to help make today possible. We truly could not have pulled off an event of this size without you!
Thank you to our incredible Oceano staff for planning, preparing, and running each station for our students. Your energy and commitment made learning come alive today.
And a special thank you to Superintendent Dr. Fawcett for joining us and experiencing Digging Deeper Day alongside our students!
Today wasn’t just about dinosaurs and fossils—it was about giving our Dolphins an opportunity to explore, question, collaborate, problem-solve, and learn by doing.
