The OSHS Band program was recognized during yesterday's Board of Trustees meeting for recently earning the Blue Ribbon Award from the National Band Association!

The achievement, awarded to just two other bands in the country this year, recognizes “programs of national significance and their music educators who challenge students and promote the highest standards of excellence.”

We had the honor to officially cut the ribbon on the Kennon Barton Broadcast Studio last week at Ocean Springs High School. The studio and classroom, used by students in our Broadcast Journalism class, will now bear the name of Mr. Kennon Barton, a beloved OSHS teacher and musician who poured his heart and soul into providing an extraordinary learning experience for students of all backgrounds.

Known for his kind nature, Mr. Barton cared deeply for all of those around him and will always be remembered for his positive attitude and devotion to learning. May we honor his legacy by always living .

We were honored to recognize our 2026 retirees earlier this week! These outstanding educators are starting a new and exciting chapter of their lives while leaving behind hundreds of years worth of experience and memories! We wish them a happy and safe retirement!
