If we constantly solve every problem, make every decision, or limit opportunities for independence, we can't expect confident, self-advocating adults. Independence grows through responsibility, trust, and experience.

At Gulfside Montessori Christian School, independence is intentionally nurtured. Students develop essential executive function skills like time management, organization, goal setting, decision-making, and self-advocacy while taking increasing ownership of their learning.

Our students LOVE to help with Community Lunch. Elementary students plan, cook, and serve each other during these special school events. And of course, the best part is eating the food!

Last year, Gulfside Montessori had the opportunity to work in partnership with MSU Program for Local Adaptation to Changing Environments. Our students participated in an active research project for Green Infrastructure design using our campus as a learning lab. As part of that project and in partnership with the Biloxi Boy Scouts, we had an Eagle Scout candidate design a nature trail on site for science observation. Other students looked at erosion issues and treatment of invasive plants. We are thrilled to see what comes next in the fall!

We are growing independent thinkers and leaders at Gulfside Montessori.

Independence is Montessori's greatest differentiator. Our students learn executive functioning skills such as goal setting, time management, and project management.
