03/19/2025

I am happy to announce that the 18th Annual Gulf Coast Judo Open tournament (March 8, 2025) hosted by Gulf Coast Judo was very successful! Numerous positive comments were made about the GCJ team, the new medals/trophies and how well our team ran the tournament.

I want to thank each of the Gulf Coast Judo instructors for the dedication and excellence they exhibit while assisting to teach and train our judo team. I want to thank all of our judo team and parents for the immense help before, during and after the tournament! Without a team effort we would be unable to host the awesome tournaments that we have twice a year:)

Without referees we would be unable to have our tournaments. A special shout out to Diane Manganaro (head referee), Tim B at locker, Jim Wetherington and Roby Desmond for the excellent job they did officiating.

Finally, I would like to thank the judo teams that competed. Teams from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida were present.

Thank you again!!

Sensei Jim Hunt

PS: The next tournament we will be attending is the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Doug Bedsaul and Downtown Martial Arts on 4/26/2025 in Starkville, MS.
