Dear Learning Depot Community,
As I embark on my journey of Retirement, I reflect on the incredible path that began in 1985 when I graduated from USM with a degree in Early Childhood Education k-3. Over the past 40 years, and especially the last 33 years as the owner of The Learning Depot I’ve had the privilege of welcoming thousands of children. It’s been a place where parents could confidently work, knowing their children were love, safe and always learning. I am deeply grateful to my amazing staff Jennifer, Kayla,Heather, JenJen and Jessica who have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly towards caring for children. I want to give a special recognition to Nancy Morin, Angie Teale and Jennifer Davis who has stood beside me as my assistant’s in helping me running the center for 33 years. I’m truly thankful to have had you as loyal, honest and trustworthy employees that means the world to a business owner.
I also want to thank the entire community for allowing me to be part of your lives.
While the building and property have been purchased by new owners, the spirit and legacy of The Learning Depot will live on.🚂 Peace Out ✌️Mrs.Karla

Well just so the families know my staff was NOT told yesterday they were told last Friday one day after I was told on Thursday that the person had money in hand.Just thought I would clear that up. I sold the business yesterday at 5:00 pm yesterday and told the families at 6:30 am this morning.If anyone wants to come at me come on. I’ve had a day from hell from a quarter of my parents. I’m 63 years old and need surgery and I had to do whats best for me. So for those of you that have talked down to me today I hope you feel good about yourself. I hope you teach your child how to treat others better than the way I have been treated. For the other 3/4 of my families thank you for your kindness. If those that need my service thru October 9th I will be open only if you can be kind. If not please don’t use my services. I don’t expect a 2 week notice from anyone. Have a good weekend.

The Learning Depot will be closing the door on October 9th for good. After 40 years total in Early Childhood Development taking care of my sweet babies it’s time for me to take care of myself. This morning I told my parents that I was retiring and the center would be closing. This has not been an easy decision for me at all but a much needed one. To the parents that hugged my neck and thanked me for loving their babies thank you it meant the world to me. For those that cussed me out, told me off and only thought about yourself this morning I say to you: I’m sorry for your inconvenience and I’m sorry you felt you had to be ugly to me this morning. I have given my life to loving and caring for children this is a part of life. I cant live forever no time would have been good for anyone.You will someday have to leave your job and retire also. I hope the people will give you grace and understanding. To my wonderful staff you guys are 100 percent the best and I love each one of you. I could not of had any better teachers❤️Everyone will live through this but let’s remember kind words my staff and I are having to deal with change also.
