Our amazing Sunshine Committee had a sweet surprise in store for our staff today!

Yesterday, every staff member received a banana and a special note asking them to bring their banana to today’s after-school staff meeting. Needless to say… there was a little confusion, a lot of curiosity, and plenty of guessing about what was coming!

Today, our teachers arrived with their bananas in hand—and were greeted with ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, cherries, sprinkles, and ALL the toppings needed to create their very own banana split!

What a fun way to turn an ordinary staff meeting into a sweet celebration! We are so thankful for our Sunshine Committee for always finding creative ways to bring a little joy, laughter, and appreciation to our staff. 💙🩶

6th graders at the UP are gearing up for our first major math test of the year, reviewing decimal operations, volume, and area of triangles and trapezoids! Today we turned our review into a little friendly competition! 😆🎯
Students worked together in teams, but everyone had to show their own work. Once their team got an answer correct, EVERYONE got a chance to throw a pop dart for points!
Lots of math, teamwork, cheering, and maybe just a little competitiveness. 😂 They had a blast, and I’d say this was a pretty fun way to review!

📚 Join Us for Open House & Curriculum Night! 📚

We invite all parents to join us on August 20th for our Open House and Curriculum Night! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teachers, learn about the curriculum, and discover what to expect for an exciting school year.

🍽️ Dinner will be provided! Our cafeteria will be serving:

Chicken tenders
Side salad
Roll
Sweet tea or bottled water

We encourage this event to be parent-focused so you can fully engage with your child's teachers and the information being shared. However, we understand that bringing your child may be necessary. If so, we'll have an activity available to keep students engaged during the event.

We look forward to seeing you on August 20th and partnering with you for a fantastic school year!

We are heartbroken over the loss of our beloved Mrs. Dahlgren. The impact she has had on students over her years as an educator will always be remembered.

OSSD is saddened to share that Mrs. Paige Dahlgren, a beloved member of the Ocean Springs Upper Elementary family, passed away earlier this week.

Mrs. Dahlgren joined OSUE in 2022, and made an immediate impact on her students and coworkers. She later took over as one of the school’s Interventionists, where she served many OSUE students for the past two years.

Her students loved her and her fellow educators were always impressed with the impact she made on her students daily. She had a true passion for helping students, and she will be greatly missed.

Please keep Mrs. Dahlgren’s family and friends in your thoughts, as well as her entire OSUE family.
