🇺🇸 As we reflect on the many special moments from the end of the school year, we'd like to recognize a wonderful visit from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in May. They spent time with our 2nd-grade students, teaching them about the history, meaning, and importance of the American flag.

We are also incredibly grateful for their generous gift of a new American flag for our school. Thank you, DAR, for investing in our students and helping foster patriotism, respect, and civic pride in the next generation!

❤️🤍💙

Congratulations to Mrs. Powell's class on being selected as one of the finalists in the National Book Challenge! She said,"They might not have won the 'big prize,' but their book "We've got the Mississippi Blues'" was selected as one of 50 finalists out of 77,000 entries! That's pretty amazing for a group of kiddos who don't always believe in their possibilities! I'm one proud teacher!!"

See comment section below for a photo of their book cover.

Help us welcome Mrs. Olivia Fayard to the Lighthouse team!

"With over 13 years of experience in education, including special education, reading intervention, and student support, I am passionate about helping children build confidence, grow academically, and reach their full potential.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Art from The University of Southern Mississippi and later received endorsements in Special Education and Art K–12 from The University of Mississippi. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving students in a variety of educational roles and settings, which has strengthened my commitment to meeting each child where they are and helping them succeed.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy arts and crafts, photography, music, spending time at the beach or pool, and most importantly, making memories with my husband, Julian, my children, Julian and Ashlyn, and our dogs. I look forward to an amazing year ahead and becoming part of the Lighthouse community!"
