**Did you know North Beach CTE students can gain real workplace experience during the school day?**

North Beach CTE has expanded its work-based learning opportunities, allowing students to serve in positions throughout our school—including the office, classrooms, food service, and facilities.

These are more than classroom assignments. Students are treated like employees and are expected to demonstrate the same qualities employers value:

* Communication and teamwork
* Dependability and professionalism
* Time management and accountability
* Critical thinking and problem-solving
* Following workplace procedures
* Completing assigned tasks accurately and on time

Students receive regular feedback from the staff members who supervise their work and complete CareerSafe training in areas such as Communication, Teamwork, Critical Thinking, Time Management, and Written Communication. Depending on their assigned position, students may also earn a Washington State Food Worker Card or complete OSHA safety training.

By combining industry-recognized training with meaningful workplace experience, students build confidence, develop strong references, and learn what it takes to succeed as an employee.

These opportunities help students graduate with more than academic knowledge—they leave with practical experience and employability skills they can carry into college, career training, and the workforce.

Through Commercial Art, students gain hands-on experience in graphic design, branding, advertising, publishing, and digital media. They also learn to use Adobe Creative Suite—the same professional software used throughout the creative industry.
Students apply these skills to real projects with real audiences, learning how to communicate ideas visually, meet deadlines, respond to feedback, and produce professional-quality work.
Commercial Art prepares students for careers in graphic design, marketing, photography, publishing, social media, and many other creative fields.
