Thank you for an incredible year! As we close out another school year at Ocean Park Elementary, I am filled with gratitude for our amazing students, supportive families, dedicated staff, and wonderful community. Together, we celebrated successes, overcame challenges, learned new things, and created memories that will last a lifetime. It has been a privilege to watch our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the year.

Field Day was the perfect way to end the year! It was a huge success, and we want to thank our local firefighters, Kara Powell, and everyone who helped support our students through the stations and activities. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm made the day special for all of our students.

Have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing summer! β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ

🍎 Golden Apple Spotlight 🍎

This week, we are celebrating two incredible members of our Special Education team β€” Ms. Alex and Ms. Bonnie!

These two are amazing assets to our Special Education department and our entire school community. Ms. Alex and Ms. Bonnie consistently go above and beyond to support students and staff every single day. From helping organize and plan field trips to creating engaging and meaningful lessons to providing individualized support for students, their dedication shines through in everything they do.

They also put in countless hours documenting progress, collaborating with staff and families, and making sure every student has what they need to be successful. Their patience, creativity, teamwork, and care help create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel valued and encouraged.

Thank you, Ms. Alex and Ms. Bonnie, for your hard work, compassion, and commitment to our students. We are so lucky to have you both as part of our school family! πŸ’™πŸ’›

Stay up to date with our miniboat, Pookie Bob Timmy the Great! 🚀🌊

https://educationalpassages.org/boats/pookiebobtimmythegreat/

This amazing project is the result of a collaboration between the 4th grade students at Ocean Park Elementary and the Columbia River Maritime Museum (CRMM). Our students chose the name Pookie Bob Timmy the Great from a classmate’s creative idea, and we knew it was the perfect fit!

One of our favorite activities was learning about nautical signal flags and using them to spell our names and ages. Through this experience, students are exploring ocean currents, different types of boats, maritime history, and careers connected to the sea.

Our big hope? That our miniboat makes its way all the way to Japan! 🌎

A huge thank you to Norton Lilly International for helping organize the deployment of our miniboat, as well as to all of the sponsors and donors who make opportunities like this possible for our students.

Pookie Bob Timmy the Great is the product of joint efforts between the 4th grade students at Ocean Park Elementary School, in partnership with Columbia River Maritime Museum (CRMM). We named our miniboat after one of our classmate’s ideas and thought that name fit it perfectly.
