A lot of what students remember about school is not the big event. It is the quick conversation, the moment someone takes a minute to sit down and talk, or just being there when it matters.

Those moments stick, but what really makes the difference is when that kind of presence continues over time.

What I have seen in schools is that effort is not the issue. It is keeping things going that tends to be the challenge.

Something might work once, but without a structure behind it, it is hard to carry that forward.

That is the gap After the Donut is built around.
