Foot's Forecast was founded in January 2004 by Richard Foot, a Maryland certified Earth & Environmental Science Teacher from Baltimore County, MD and a 1996 graduate of Penn State in Earth Science. Foot and his students predicted the impacts of the President's Day Blizzard and a Mid-Atlantic landfall of Hurricane Irene 5 days before other forecasting organizations. Following those events, Mr. Foot and his 10th grade science students from Dundalk High School in Baltimore County began publish their collaborative forecasts on the internet. Since the launch of footsforecast.org in January 2004, the organization has developed into a team of 50+ forecasters in over 20 states.
