Our Story | Department of Grooming & Salon Services

Marion Technical College was established in 1973 to fulfill a community need for wide access to quality career education. Formerly the Career and Technical Adult Education (CTAE) center, Marion Technical College made the transition from the Adult Education Center to a Technical College in 2016. The philosophy of Marion Technical College has been and continues to be, student-centered and career oriented. One of the 10 different departments that house our 26+ Career Certification Programs, is our Department of Grooming & Salon Services.

The Department of Grooming and Salon Services of Marion Technical College is comprised of 4 different programs. These include: Cosmetology, Nail Specialty, and Facial Specialty, which are held at our Main Campus, and Barbering, which is held at our MTC-East Campus. Through these programs, students are taught by expert, licensed instructors in their field. When you join one of our programs, you are joining the MarionTC nation. Our MarionTC alumni are a large group of dynamic, highly-skilled professionals who are working as leaders in their industries.
