Middle School Water Day was a success 💦

It is Shark Week in Miss Wilcox’s 2nd grade class this week! 🦈 Today they were able to dissect a spiny dogfish shark: feel the skin’s rough skin texture, see the oil that helps keep the shark buoyant, the gills, lungs, heart, stomach, jaw, and felt how tough it is to cut through the cartilage - even with the scalpel!

Last week Mrs. Westbrook traveled to Lakeland with three of our St John students to compete in the 71st State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida with more than 720 other finalists.

After two rounds of judging, our St John State Finalists won the following awards: ✨Fourth Place in Junior Division Plant Sciences for Raelyn Westbrook
✨Recognition in Junior Division Plant Sciences for Emma Jenkins
✨Recognition in Senior Division Intelligent Machines, Robotics & Systems Software AND Special Award of Capital Regional Science and Engineering Fair Cash Prize for Ronan Roberts.
