Today in African American history we pay tribute to William DeHart Hubbard. William DeHart Hubbard was a track and field athlete who was the first African American to win an Olympic gold medal in an individual event: the running long jump at the 1924 Paris Summer games. Because of William DeHart Hubbard, other African American Athletes & Olympians like Sha'Carri Richardson, Serena Williams, Simone Biles, Usian Bolt, Donald young & Cullen Jones. We’re able to follow their dreams without having to be the only. AASU would like to help inspire you today. By reminding you that you should never be afraid to be the first. Always look beyond the moment that is set before you. Because although you maybe the first, you won’t be the only.

We here at AASU would like to wish all of our members along with their family & friends a Happy Thanksgiving 🍁. We’d also like to wish our supporters along with our Cf family a Happy Thanksgiving as well. There are so many things to be thankful for. No matter what the day looks like or feels like. We truly are blessed. Because there is always somebody who is willing to trade places with us. So no matter what continue to keep your head lifted to the the sky. Col Frederick D Gregory becomes the first African American to lead a space mission. On November 22 1989. In 1989, Gregory became the first African American space commander when he commanded the mission STS-33 on board the space shuttle Discovery. Today Col Frederick D Gregory is our honoree. We appreciate you for leaving your mark in history. & for inspiring many African American boys and girls. To chase they’re dreams in space research.

Today AASU went to Tallahassee to visit FSU & FAMU. The weather was a little chilly however it didn’t stop us from having a great time. We’d like to also give a special shout out to Mr.W Morris & The Trio Students. For allowing us to accompany them on the university tour trips today. Feel free to stop one of our AASU team members to learn information about the following universities. We’d also like to encourage you to always ask questions and choose the school that’s best for you.

Ruth Brown born on January 12, 1928. Known as the Queen of R&B. Ruth Brown was a rhythm and blues singer. Who crusaded for musicians rights. She was noted for bringing a pop music style to R&B music in a series of hit songs for Atlantic Records in the 1950s. Such as "So Long", "Teardrops from My Eyes" and " He Treats Your Daughter Mean". She also earned the sobriquet “Miss Rhythm” while dominating the rhythm-and-blues charts throughout the 1950s. Her success helped establish Atlantic Records & shine the musical light on African American culture. Today Ruth Brown is our honoree and we thank her for inspiring R&B culture. Her sound is noted and found through music today. & her voice forever lives through the songbirds of the music industry.

Today AASU won 2nd place in the International Food Festival. The country we represented today was Haiti 🇭🇹. We’d also like to give a shout out to all clubs who participated in making the Cf International Food Festival a success.

Chinua Achebe is known as one of the world's great literary voices. He was 82 years old when he passed & was born on November 16th 1930. More than 50 years ago he wrote the novel "Things Fall Apart," one of the first African novels written in English to receive global critical acclaim. It's been one of the most widely read books in modern African literature. Today we pay tribute to Chinua Achebe for his footsteps & voice that shed light to the African American culture & history.
