The Office of Environmental Sustainability (OES) educates and inspires a multidisciplinary way of thinking about the world that incorporates an ethic of environmental care, social equity, and financial responsibility. Through bold leadership, innovation, and creative collaboration, OES works with the administration to advance an environment that is sustainable, equitable, and resilient for our cam

pus, our students, our community, and beyond. The office works to facilitate the implementation of the college’s comprehensive environmental policy in line with the college’s strategic goal of sustainability and commitment to carbon neutrality. OES interacts with the administration, faculty, staff, and students and reaches out to the wider community and provides a connection between Oberlin and regional and national activities.

Bikes are a daily part of our lives at Oberlin. They’re speedier than walking, cheaper than a car (especially with the help of the Bike Co-op), and eco-friendly. Since its founding, bicycles have been a fundamental part of Oberlin culture. Thanks to the efforts of each of us, has recognized Oberlin College and Conservatory with a Bronze-level award.

What does this mean for you?

OES is creating and supporting non-fossil fueled transportation, including bicycle infrastructure and resources, to make it easier for students, faculty, and staff to get around campus, the city of Oberlin, and the greater Cleveland area to support our carbon neutrality commitment.
