First event for the fall semester! First years show out!

Student Senate Elections for the 2022-2023 academic year are live! Students check your email to view candidate statements and then vote once you view the statements! We look forward to all the great work that will be accomplished next year!

Student Senate elections are here! Are you passionate about making our campus a better place for students and staff? Do you feel strongly about our campus racial climate, accessibility, dining program, or improving our campus community? Do you want to elevate the voices of your peers? If you answered yes to any of these questions, nominate yourself or someone you know for Student Senate!
Elected senators will begin their terms in Fall 2022, and will serve for both semesters of the 2022-2023 academic year.
A special election will be held at the beginning of the Fall 2022 semester to elect a First-Year Class Representative.
This semester’s election timeline is as follows: nominations open today; nominations close on May 2nd; the voting period will go from May 3rd - to May 10th.

As representatives of Oberlin’s student body, we aim to uphold and cultivate a community on campus that embraces, uplifts, and protects equity, diversity, and inclusion. We aim to expand accessibility in academia, student life, and the conservatory. As student leaders, we will use our positions to be change agents to ensure that the issues illuminated by students, faculty, and staff are addressed on an institutional, social, and academic level.

In line with our mission statement, this survey aims to collect data about what you all perceive as urgent issues and concerns that should be addressed by the Student Senate, senior administration, and other faculty and staff. This survey data will prompt us to add your grievances to our agenda to address them via various actionable steps.

Student Senate has put together a new ObieReal outlining the new COVID policy updates and new variants to ensure that everyone stays safe and healthy! We also discuss continued and post pandemic responsibilities.

Student Senate wanted to explicitly thank the members of the Black community who hosted and organized events to celebrate and educate the Oberlin community about Juneteenth. The positive impact these events had is not only appreciated, but commended. Be sure to check out other events these students and student orgs plan to have!

Tonight at 7pm EST, we will be inviting all candidates for Student Senate for the 21-22 academic year to our weekly meeting to see how plenary works! Any interested students are invited and encouraged to attend to learn more about Senate and ask the candidates some questions. This is a great opportunity to meet the candidates and help you decide who to vote for in our elections (which close Monday night!)

Thank you all so much for the love and enthusiasm at last night's Asian Cultural Arts Festival! We hope to work with other student orgs and administrators to make it an annual event 🧡💛♥️ Student org representatives and volunteers put together this list of Asian Cultural orgs, Asian-inclusive orgs, and resources, which was presented at the beginning of the event. The Asian community at Oberlin is diverse and powerful, and we hope this list helps at least one person find community here.

Oberlin has committed to re-evaluating the ObieSafe policies once at least 80% of the campus population provides proof that they are fully vaccinated. If you upload your vaccination card to the OberView Student Health Portal by May 10th, your name will be entered into a raffle for up to $500. Student Senate has created a tutorial graphic on how to successfully upload your vaccination card to help simplify the process for you all.
