FIRST RESPONDERS, TRUNK OR TREAT

On October 17th, from 4pm to 7pm, Police Pictures is again presenting: the First Responders and Community, Trunk or Treat.

I spoke with the President of Police Pictures about the event the other day.

The Interview:
TMC - Why did you come up with this event and how long ago did you start?

JOSH - This event was based off an organization we have worked with in Columbus. Bridging the Gap, along with the Columbus Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. This year marks the 6th annual event. Our first annual first responders & community trunk or treat in Northern Ohio debuted in October 2021 in Elyria.

TMC - Has this grown beyond your imagination?

JOSH - The event sure has grown beyond my imagination. Each year, the event seems to grow in different aspects. I continue to aim for the stars.

TMC - Now I know about putting events on, are you crazy while the setup is underway?

JOSH - I absolutely am crazy while setup is underway. Between advertising the event to the community, first responder agencies, news outlets. Making purchases and coordinating between our team, community partners, volunteers, sponsors. Making purchases. To name a few things, there is a lot of planning and coordination to put on a successful event for thousands to enjoy.

TMC - How long do you see doing this?

JOSH - I want to continue putting this event on, as long as I am able to. If that time ever comes to an end, I would hope to pass the torch on to someone who is able to.

TMC - Is it true that you do this because you love candy?

JOSH - I do love candy; however it is certainly not the reason for hosting the event. I love the work that I do, and that includes bringing the community and first responders together for an amazing night of fun.

TMC - Is there any that you’d like to thank that has helped you organize these events?

JOSH - I would like to say thank you to Sheffield Village Police Department, Phantom Fireworks, the first responders, and all of the amazing volunteers who help us to put this amazing event on! We couldn't do it without all of these people. Thank you!

TMC - Anything you want to say that I forgot to ask?

JOSH - One thing I would add is that this event is about so much more than just handing out candy. Our goal with Police Pictures has always been to support and humanize law enforcement and first responders while creating positive interactions with the communities they serve.
This event gives thousands of kids and families an opportunity to meet first responders in a fun, welcoming environment. For some kids, this may be one of their first interactions with a police officer, firefighter, deputy, or paramedic, and we want that interaction to be something they remember in a positive way.
I'm incredibly proud of what this event has become over the past six years. Seeing so many first responder agencies, local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and community members come together for one evening is what makes all of the work behind the scenes worth it.
Most importantly, we've always wanted to keep this event completely FREE for families. We couldn't do that without the tremendous support we receive from our sponsors, community partners, first responders, and volunteers each year. - Josh Kelly

A first-of-its-kind conference in Lorain County will bring together fi***rm owners and retailers, veterans, first responders and su***de prevention professionals Oct. 15 to discuss fi***rm safety and mental health. The event is open to everyone.
Doors will open at 8 a.m. at Grafton Township Hall, 17109 state Route 83, for "Safe Storage: Safe Homes." A free breakfast will be provided!
