Spread the Word!
Artwork by Courtney Klesta
Oberlin Chalk Walk is typically held the third or fourth Saturday in June from 10am-4pm (Rain date is the Sunday immediately after).
The Oberlin Chalk Walk is a festive colorful event that celebrates the tradition of sidewalk painting that began in 16th century Italy. Master professional artists and several local artists create works of art on pavement all over town. Sidewalks from the Allen Memorial Art Museum to the Public Library and from the college bookstore to the Hotel at Oberlin will be available for children and adults

Jessica Fisher is another new Juried Artist in 2025. Jessica is in her second year as the Art Teacher of Keystone Middle School in LaGrange, Ohio. Before that, she was the Keystone Elementary Art teacher for the prior 8 years. Her passions for Art and teaching get to be combined as she aims to teach students both to appreciate Art and hopefully become global citizens in a world that needs the next generation to embody all that is good. Jessica works to show her students that creating Art continues to be a priority of hers, through murals, public art like these chalk walks that she encourages them to participate in, art shows and museum visits.
Jessica will be creating artwork near the Apollo Theatre at this year's event.

We're excited to feature new Juried Artists this year, and recognize the wide variety of talent in our area!
First up: Amanda Mitchell. Amanda grew up in Oberlin and took many classes at FAVA when she was younger. Because of the FAVA programs, she was introduced to Oberlin Chalk Walk at an early age. Amanda has participated in the chalk walk every year since she was seven years old. She was part of the gifted arts program in middle and high school. During high school she won two gold keys and three silver keys through the scholastic program.
Amanda is currently a 3rd year art education major at BGSU, her focus is in painting and drawing. The most recent community based painting she completed was a commissioned mural for the Sandusky VFW.
Amanda will be creating her next chalk art piece near the Oberlin College Bookstore at this year's event.

She now works for the City of Oberlin, and enjoys creating artwork in many different ways during her free time. Oberlin Chalk Walk is her favorite summer tradition, and she looks forward to challenging herself each year when creating chalk drawings.
You can find Beth at her usual event location in front of Hall Auditorium.
