The Backbone of Ohio's Economy is Manufacturing
Earlier this month, Lorain County JVS instructors Andrew Dansco and Stormy Rush visited The University of Tennessee Knoxville Manufacturing and Design Center. A weeklong, immersive, hands-on training for America's Cutting Edge (ACE) Manufacturing Program.
This collaborative between Cleveland State University, Lorain County JVS, and U.S. Department of Energy will bolster Northeast Ohio's talent pool and expand access to alternative manufacturing pathways--supporting --Ohio's skilled manufacturing economy.

Mobilizing Every Ohioan to Enter the Workforce
On Wednesday, June 17, Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center will honor Adult Diploma graduates across its workforce-development pathways. An evening not only celebrating the achievements of work-ready talent but the importance that every Ohioan has the opportunity to access career-connected learning with economic mobility.

From Classroom to Careers: A chain reaction between career-tech students and regional employers
Lorain County JVS's summer internship program ignites connection with 138-documented work-based learning outcomes. Since the launch of the program, students have logged a total of 1,107- hours directly supporting 115 employers with emerging talent.

Vying for Perkins V Funds to Strengthen Manufacturing Talent
Created by The Ohio Manufacturers' Association and facilitated through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, the WorkAdvance Model is designed for schools to scale manufacturing pathways aligned with employer needs. LCJVS seeks to increase access to in-demand, high-wage careers for emerging talent while fueling workforce readiness and the regional manufacturing talent pipeline.

Career Pathways are Rising at Lorain County JVS to Support Ohio's Regional Economy
The Great Lake region is driving new ideas and bold conversations around energy, infrastructure, water resources, and sustainable (SMART) manufacturing -- powering -- demand for new skillsets and career pathways throughout Northeast Ohio. As Ohio's technology and digital infrastructure economy evolves, Lorain County JVS is exploring industry-connected Sustainability and Alternative Energy pathways designed to align education with the future of the industry.

FREE Summer Healthcare Training for Rising Seniors
Lorain County students entering their senior year in 2026-27 now have the opportunity to earn their Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential — at no cost — through the OTC+ Health Collaborative.
This five-week summer program gives students hands-on experience in the healthcare field while building a direct pathway into high-demand careers including nursing, patient care, radiology, ultrasound, and other healthcare technician roles.
Students have the opportunity to:
🔹 Earn an industry-recognized CNA credential
🔹 Gain real-world clinical experience
🔹 Explore healthcare career pathways
🔹 Build connections to post-secondary and workforce opportunities
