Making a cucumber and tomato salad can be as easy as getting home from work and walking out back and grabbing what you need.
Ingredients:
Cucumber, tomato, parsley, basil, dash of salt and pepper, olive oil, red wine vinegar.

Sure you can buy your veggies at the store, but it's mo' betta' if you grow them yourself. Bonus points if you get the kids in helping with harvest 🙂

USDA Study Shows Controlled-Environment Agriculture Could Reduce Food Waste — AGRITECTURE 08/02/2021

When I started working on what would eventually be called Urban Permaculture Inititative back in Fall 2017, the goal was simple: Create extremely affordable indoor agricultural practices that would be productive regardless of what the weather conditions were outside. It is nice to see that 2 1/2 years later, the USDA would acknowledge that this is a more efficient way of growing. While the USDA historically has been Pro-BigAG, I am trying to bring this power to the PEOPLE, especially those in the low income brackets. Although I have not posted anything in the last couple of months, the work never stopped. In the coming months I will continue to work on expanding the reach, and I am networking with potential partners to move this across America. If you know someone that may be interested in helping spread the opportunities, please let me know.
Thank you,
Joey Delgado

USDA Study Shows Controlled-Environment Agriculture Could Reduce Food Waste — AGRITECTURE Moving production to controlled environments, such as greenhouses or vertical farming concepts, has the potential to reduce food waste by minimizing environmental exposure that can create cosmetic imperfections.

Recao/Culantro (Caribbean Herb) starting to take off in the basement (again). Third year now. Seed sown in the basement. I'm always glad to see mushrooms for 2 reasons. One: they indicate nutrient rich soil. Two: They are producing CO2 which is plant food. Without it your plants die. All other things being equal, higher CO2 levels helps feed your plants which in turn give them those deep, rich green colors. In the near future I plan on farming mushrooms in the basement to increase CO2 to help the plants growing in the basement.
