Ever wonder how an increase in home values affects funding for Oakwood Schools?

With the 2026 Montgomery County property reappraisal underway, it is natural to ask what updated home values mean for your tax bill, and whether the district sees a revenue boost as a result. The short answer is no.

Ohio’s House Bill 920 ensures fixed-rate school levies collect the same total dollar amount over time, even when home values rise. As property values go up, the levy’s effective tax rate automatically rolls down. This keeps district funding steady rather than increasing alongside property values.

🗓️ To help make sense of how reappraisals impact your individual tax bill, Oakwood Schools Treasurer Laura Sauber will break it down during a presentation at the next Board of Education meeting. Join us on Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Oakwood High School Band Room to learn how home value increases affect your property taxes.

📚🔍 Smith’s third-grade classrooms have a fun weekly tradition: a Mystery Reader joins the class to read aloud! This week, students received five clues throughout the week before discovering their mystery guest was Superintendent Dr. Gupta! 🎉

The students loved hearing Dr. Gupta read and learning an important lesson along the way: the power of one little word—YET!

Instead of saying, “I can’t,” try saying, “I can’t YET!” 💙💛

A great reminder that learning takes time, growth takes patience, and there’s always room to keep going! 🌟📖

📚☀️There’s something special about gathering together outside on a beautiful day! Our Harman students kicked off the school year with a favorite tradition—heading to the playground to enjoy a book read by Principal Sarah Patterson and School Counselor Michael Wadham. 💙💛
The sunshine, fresh air, and extra time together made for a wonderful afternoon of reading and community. What a great way to start the year! 🌞📖✨
