Have you noticed? …

Toddlers blink much less often than adults because their blink reflex is still maturing, their eyes have a smaller surface area, and they focus deeply on new things. This keeps their eyes moist for a longer time between blinks.

Why Toddlers Blink Less

• Developing Nervous System: The brain and eye connection is still growing. It takes time for the automatic blink reflex to reach adult rates.
• Small Eyes: Their eyes are smaller. Less surface area exposed to the air means the tears do not dry up as fast.
• Deep Focus: Toddlers pay close attention to play. High concentration makes people of any age blink less often.

How Their Eyes Stay Safe

• More Tears: Young children often make plenty of tears to keep the eye wet.
• Frequent Rubbing: If their eyes feel dry, toddlers rub them right away to spread moisture.

I noticed this with our little ones a couple of weeks ago so I did some research and had to share because I thought it was interesting! 🧐

🌈 Baby food inspiration for our little learners! 🥣💚

Introducing a variety of healthy flavors and textures is an exciting part of your baby’s food journey. These simple combinations are packed with nutrients and can help support healthy growth and development for babies 6 months and older (when they’re ready for solids).

🍐 Pear + Oats
🥕 Sweet Potato + Carrot
🥑 Avocado + Broccoli + Peas
🥒 Zucchini + Spinach
🫐 Blueberry + Banana
🍎 Apple + Cinnamon

Every child develops at their own pace, so always introduce new foods one at a time and consult your pediatrician if you have any concerns about allergies or starting solids. 💚

🤰💛 Nourishing little ones starts long before they’re born.

A healthy pregnancy is supported by balanced nutrition, and simple, wholesome foods can make a big difference for both mom and baby. Foods like oats, salmon, spinach, avocado, berries, yogurt, nuts, and lentils provide important nutrients that support healthy growth and development.

Every pregnancy is unique, so it’s always a good idea to speak with your healthcare provider about the best nutrition plan for you.

In our childcare home, we love supporting healthy beginnings and celebrating every stage of your little one’s journey. 💕

Happy National Hummingbird Day! 🐦🌸

National Hummingbird Day is always celebrated on the first Saturday of September. While our little ones are home enjoying the weekend with their families, it’s the perfect time to watch for these tiny, amazing birds in your own backyard, at a local park, or anywhere flowers are blooming.

Hummingbirds may be small, but they’re fast, fascinating, and fun for children to observe. They remind us to slow down and appreciate the beauty of nature all around us.

💚 Be sure to check the Comments section for some Fun Hummingbird Facts for Kids! They’re a great way to learn something new together this weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! 🌺✨

Childhood isn’t about having every moment perfectly planned. It’s about making memories. 🥰

Take them outside. Let them get messy. Let them explore, laugh, run, play, and be silly. Put the phone down and join them in their little world. 🌳🛝☀️

Because one day, those little moments you may think are ordinary will become the stories they remember most. ❤️

As childcare providers, we get to witness so many of those precious moments during the week and you get the weekends. Make them count.

Give them your time. Give them your attention. Give them a childhood filled with moments worth remembering. 🥰

The dishes can wait. The laundry can wait. Childhood can’t. ❤️

Just a quick reminder …

We are closed next week. We will most definitely miss our little ones but we look forward to seeing them when we reopen Monday, 9/14.

Have fun with them while we’re away! 🤗🩵🩷
