The latest update I can find on Incident #282 near Waldo Lake is encouraging:

Location: about 4.5 miles north of Waldo Lake, in the Three Sisters Wilderness.

Size: approximately 17 acres after more accurate mapping.

Status: crews have completed fireline around the perimeter and moved into mop-up operations.
Spot fires: all known spot fires have been suppressed.
The Forest Service reported 15% containment with crews continuing to work inward from the perimeter.

Smoke may still be visible, but that does not necessarily mean the fire is spreading.

Most important: I am not seeing evidence that the fire is currently advancing toward Waldo Lake or threatening the lake itself. The situation appears substantially better than it did when the fire was first detected August 7.
I also checked for a newer Forest Service update this morning, August 12, and I’m not finding one that supersedes the mop-up report yet.

Firefighters are responding to incident 282, a new fire located in the Three Sisters Wilderness approximately 4.5 miles north of Waldo Lake. The fire is estimated at 15 acres and is active with potential for further growth. Air attack, four helicopters, smokejumpers and two crews are currently engaged in direct attack along the fire's edge with additional resources, including a scooper, en route.

Please be aware of firefighting operations in the area - specifically 1 mile north of Forest Service Road 517 (Taylor Burn), 0.5 miles west of the Jack Pine Way Trail #3587, and 0.75 miles east of Williams Lake and Williams Lake Trail #3589. Smoke may be visible from central Oregon.

OAKRIDGE, Ore. -- Fire officials have announced the closure order for areas in and around the Cedar Creek Fire has been expanded due to its relatively rapid growth, and that further closures are expected.

As of September 7, the closure around the Cedar Creek Fire now stretches from the Aubrey Mountain trailhead in the west to just past the Deschutes/Lane County line in the east, and from the Roaring River Ridge trailhead in the north to Highway 58 in the south. Officials say Highway 58 itself is not closed at the moment. Unauthorized individuals will be fined and possibly jailed if found in the closure area, which firefighting officials say is in place to protect public safety and allow firefighters to focus on combating the blaze.

Officials say the Cedar Creek fire is burning 18,143 acres and is 12% contained as of September 7. The announcement of the expanded closure comes moments after Lane Fire Defense Chief Chad Minter ordered several fire task forces in Oregon to return to Lane County in preparation for high temperatures and possible heavy winds.

Firefighters are working on extending a handline around the Bobby Lake fire burning in southern Deschutes County, between Waldo Lake and Wickiup Reservoir.

Forest Fire Update. This fire is 3.5 miles east of Waldo Lake and is now at 900 acres. The good news is this that this is 87% contained. Thank you fire fighters for your fast response!!!
