Envision Students Spotlighted in California's School Redesign Initiative!

Four Envision graduates were recently featured in Common Ground, a newsletter from California's Secondary School Redesign Pilot Program!

After taking the stage at PBL World, Sarah, Carlinda, Stephanie, and Giselle shared how project-based learning helped them build confidence, find their voices, and take ownership of their learning.

Their stories show what's possible when students are at the center of education!

β€œWhen you learn, teach. When you get, give.” β€” Maya Angelou

October is National Principals Month, and we're celebrating the incredible principals who lead our Envision school communities every day.

They learn alongside their communities. They teach through their leadership. And they give their time, care, and commitment to creating schools where students and educators can thrive.

This month, we're grateful to celebrate our Envision principals and all they give to our school communities each day. πŸ’›

πŸŽ“ Meet the 2026 Daniel McLaughlin College Persistence Scholarship recipients!

What does college persistence actually look like?

For Envision alumni, there isn't one answer.

It can mean finding belonging on a new campus. Navigating college as the first in your family. Changing course when the original plan doesn't work. Balancing financial pressures with academics. Or discovering a career that gives you the opportunity to support others.

The Daniel McLaughlin College Persistence Scholarship recognizes Envision alumni as they continue those journeys.

For Sarai Hernandez, persistence has meant finding belonging on campus and giving back to her community.

For Autumn Hughes, it has meant taking a nonlinear path from a four-year university, to earning a two-year degree, and back to a four-year institution: β€œAlthough the journey was long, I am stronger because of it.”

Melanie Ornelas Serna, a first-generation college student, is earning all A's while working toward becoming a pediatric nurse.

Nathaly Amador and Sarai Hernandez, inspired by educators who supported them, are now imagining futures as educators themselves.

Nicole Moraga Torres is the first in her family to attend college and hopes to be an example for her younger brother.

And Seneca Gabourie, who once questioned whether college was possible, is discovering her confidence and what she is capable of.

This year, we're proud to recognize:
πŸŽ“ Nathaly Amador | San Francisco State University
πŸŽ“ Seneca Gabourie | Skyline College
πŸŽ“ Sarai Hernandez | UC San Diego
πŸŽ“ Autumn Hughes | Cal State East Bay
πŸŽ“ Nicole Moraga Torres | San Francisco State University
πŸŽ“ Melanie Ornelas Serna | Chabot College
πŸŽ“ Amal Saleh | Merritt College

Together, their stories remind us that college persistence is about much more than staying enrolled. It's about continuing to navigate, adapt, grow, and move toward what comes next.

Congratulations to our 2026 Daniel McLaughlin College Persistence Scholarship recipients! πŸŽ“

Starting the week with a story about finding your voice and using it to create change.

Envision Schools alumna Kina Evans has taken her journey from student to educator, founder, and CEO.

β€œAs a student, I didn't just learn academics. I learned how to find my voice, lead with confidence, and envision a future bigger than myself.”

After earning her master's degree and spending six years teaching, Kina founded BULLY TALK INC., a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and transforming school culture.

Today, she continues to turn her purpose into action as a leader, advocate, and changemaker.

Kina's story is a reminder that what students discover about themselves in school can shape where they go, how they lead, and what they give back.
