For those that didn't know, and for those that think they know but are very biblically illiterate. The Sabbath is everyday! Christ has ALWAYS been our Sabbath. Sabbath means Rest in Hebrew. And as my previous lesson on the days. Has nothing to do with a Saturday or Sunday. These days were named after their Roman and Babylonian Norse gods. The Sabbath was established in Genesis 2:3-4. A day to God is a thousand years to man 2 Peter 3:8. Come out of the darkness and into the light people.

📖 THE SABBATH DID NOT BEGIN WITH “SATURDAY”

Many of us grew up hearing Sunday through Saturday. But those English names are not how Scripture identifies the days.

In Genesis, God establishes the order:
יוֹם אֶחָד — Yom Echad
“Day One” — Genesis 1:5

Then:
יוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי — Yom HaSh
“The Seventh Day” — Genesis 2:2–3

The Hebrew root:
שָׁבַת — shavath
means to cease, desist, or rest.

From this comes:
**שַׁבָּת — Shabbat**
“Sabbath”

So the Sabbath is identified by its place in God’s seven-day order—not because God called it “Saturday.”

Genesis 1:14 also says the heavenly lights were given:

**לְאֹתֹת — le'otot** — for signs
**וּלְמוֹעֲדִים — u'lemo'adim** — for appointed times/seasons
**וּלְיָמִים — u'leyamim** — for days
**וְשָׁנִים — v'shanim** — for years

That word **מוֹעֵד — mo'ed** means an appointed time or season.

Then Exodus 12 shows how God gave Israel appointed dates such as Passover by **month and numbered day**, not by Roman or Norse weekday names.

That is the distinction:

✅ God established the seven-day cycle.
✅ God sanctified the seventh day.
✅ Scripture identifies days by number/order and Sabbath.
✅ The later names Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday came through pagan cultural traditions.

So don’t confuse the **name mankind later attached to a day** with what **God said about the day itself**.

Before there was “Saturday,” Scripture already said:

**יוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי — THE SEVENTH DAY**

Before modern weekday names:

**שַׁבָּת — SHABBAT**
