Learning their names one letter at a time! âœïžđŸ˜Š

Today we worked on something that’s always exciting for our little ones—learning how to spell their own names!

We’re starting with recognizing the letters in their names and helping them understand that when we put those letters together, they make something that belongs just to them. And of course, they get so excited when they recognize their own name! đŸ€©

It may seem like a simple activity, but they’re building early literacy skills, learning letter recognition and gaining confidence along the way.

Learning is always a little more fun when it’s about YOU! đŸ„°

A little fun with a friend đŸ„°

These two were having the best time together in our dramatic play area! One minute they’re shopping, the next they’re checking each other out at the register—and in their world, it all makes perfect sense. 😂

Dramatic play may look like they’re simply having fun, but there’s so much learning happening. They’re using their imaginations, communicating with each other, taking turns and building those important social skills—all through play.

At First Choice, we love giving our children the space to just be children, because some of the best learning happens when they don’t even realize they’re learning. đŸ€—

A friend helping a friend. đŸ„°

Sometimes the best moments happen during everyday play. One friend needed a little help getting her construction worker vest on, and another friend stepped right in to help her.

These little moments are how children begin learning kindness, cooperation and how to care for one another. We love seeing our children not only learning how to do things for themselves, but also learning to recognize when a friend could use a helping hand. đŸ€—

There’s nothing like a little music to get our day going!

Today the kids had fun singing If You’re Happy and You Know It together. Songs like this are fun, but they’re also a great way for children to practice listening and following directions, build language skills, learn rhythm and get their bodies moving.đŸ„°

At First Choice, learning doesn’t always happen sitting at a table. Sometimes it happens through a song, some clapping hands and a whole lot of fun!

Ending the week with something that truly touched our hearts. ❀

When our children leave First Choice and move on to kindergarten, it’s always bittersweet. We’re proud because this is exactly what we’ve been preparing them for, but that doesn’t make saying goodbye any easier.

Receiving a card like this from one of our families is such a beautiful reminder that what we do every day matters. We don’t just get to watch our children learn and grow—we get to become part of their lives and their families become part of ours.

Thank you to this family for trusting us with such an important part of your child’s journey. These are the moments we’ll always remember. đŸ„č❀

Ms. Katrina’s Parent Corner ❀

Sometimes the best thing we can do for our children is give them a little time to figure things out.

When we step in too quickly, we may be taking away an opportunity for them to try, think, problem-solve and discover what they’re capable of. Of course we’re there when they need us, but giving them those extra moments to work through something on their own helps build confidence and independence.

It may take them a little longer, and that’s okay. Watching that little face light up when they realize, “I did it!” is worth it. 😊

Learning Through LEGO Play đŸ§±

Sometimes the best learning happens when the kids are just given the materials and the freedom to create. While they were creating their own designs, they were also strengthening their fine motor skills, developing problem-solving skills, using their imaginations and learning alongside one another.

We love activities like this because there’s no one “right” way to build. They get to think about what they want to make, figure out how to make the pieces work together and keep trying until their creation comes together.

And of course, they’re having fun the whole time! 😊

Some goodbyes are definitely harder than others. ❀

Last week we officially said goodbye to two of our big kids as they get ready to head off to kindergarten.

When children have been part of First Choice, they become part of our daycare family. We watch them grow, learn, make friends, gain independence and become ready for that next big step. Then comes the day when we actually have to let them go. đŸ„č

As you can see from all of the hugs, saying goodbye wasn’t easy for any of us! Their friends wanted their hugs, and of course Ms. Katrina had to get hers too.

We are so proud of both of them and excited for everything that’s ahead. Go be great in kindergarten! We know you’re ready! 🎓🍎

📚 One of the best ways to encourage a love for reading is simply letting your child explore books.

Even before children can read the words, they’re learning. As they turn the pages, look at the pictures, and tell their own stories, they’re building vocabulary, using their imagination, and developing a love for books.

Don’t worry about reading every page perfectly. Sometimes the learning happens when you let your child take the lead.
