Join us for the 2nd Annual Peralta Pumpkin Pursuit 5K/10K Run & Walk at Merritt College!

Whether you're a runner, walker, student, employee, alum, friend, or community member, lace up your shoes and come out for a morning of movement, community, and Peralta pride—all in support of our students.

Every step supports the Peralta Colleges Foundation and its work to help students across the Peralta Colleges succeed. Proceeds from the Pumpkin Pursuit help provide scholarships, emergency assistance, and other resources that remove barriers and help students stay on the path toward their educational goals.

🌟 We are so proud to spotlight Professor Danny Nguyen of College of Alameda, and his extraordinary story that reached a global audience on the BBC! 🎙️🌍

From selling goods as a child on the streets of Saigon after the fall of Vietnam in 1975, to making 32 attempts to escape before finally reaching the United States, Danny's journey is one of unimaginable resilience, courage, and reinvention. 💙

After arriving in the US, a movie poster for Fame ignited a passion for he had never felt before. That spark led him to build a career in dance and the , run his own dance company, and eventually return to Vietnam, the country he once fled, through the power of art. 🩰✨

Today, Professor Nguyen brings all of that lived experience into his classroom at CoA, inspiring the next generation of artists and performers right here in the East Bay.

We are incredibly proud to recognize Professor Roger Viet Chung, Laney College Ethnic Studies professor and one of the driving forces behind our Restoring Our Communities (ROC) program, which is approaching its remarkable 10-year anniversary! 🎉

Professor Chung's work goes far beyond the classroom. He teaches inside San Quentin and the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, helping justice-involved students see education and college as a powerful pathway forward. 🙌
