Tate and Nedra, leaders of the Mills Choir Board, were very excited to practice Babethandaza, arranged by Victor C. Johnson!

As a composer, Victor C. Johnson has won numerous composition contests and has received ASCAP Awards for the past 12 years. His first piece was published in 1994, while he was a sophomore in high school. To date, he has over 200 octavos and choral products in the catalogs of Heritage Music Press, The Lorenz Corporation, Chorister’s Guild, SoundForth, and Hal Leonard Corporation. American composer, Greg Gilpin began piano lessons at the age of four and while continuing his music study in piano, trumpet, French horn and voice, he became an accomplished accompanist in middle school, high school and college. By the time he attended university, he had also directed a church choir for four years. His first choral works were published while attending Northwest Missouri State University, where he received his degree in Vocal Music Education.

Ruth Elaine Schram wrote her first song at the age of twelve (what???) and her first octavo was published twenty years later, in 1988. In 1992, she became a full-time composer and arranger and now has over 2,000 published works!

The Mills College Choir will be performing one of her amazing compositions, Siuil A Ruin (Shoole Aroon) this spring. You won't want to miss it!
