Arab, Asian, and Pacific Islander Student Achievement is an innovative targeted initiative of the Oakland Unified School District's Office of Equity to lift up our most struggling API students. Oakland Tech held its very first Asian and Pacific Islander senior class graduation ceremony. Student leaders organized and led a fun evening that included community performances and invited speakers. Thank you organizing committee and adult allies that came together to make it a success. A group of OUSD students were invited to Stanford to share their classroom experiences as Pacific Islanders. This cohort of Stanford’s Master degree teachers learned about how to create a more inclusive classroom for not just Pacific Islander students but for all students. Great job ladies! You all represented OUSD and your families well!

To celebrate Pacific Grove’s Pioneering Chinese Fishing Community, Lincoln elementary students and families visited Monterey to participate in the Walk of Remembrance. Students visited the museum of natural history, the aquarium and enjoyed a beautiful day in Monterey. Thank you to our staff at Lincoln and our community allies whose efforts and contributions of time and resources makes field trips like this possible. A special thank you to the team at the UC Berkeley Chinese Alumni Foundation for their support of our Chinese students and community.

From political education, leadership development and Arts Activism, AYPAL has been a long standing force in Oakland of addressing the marginalization of API youth voices in the Bay.

OUSDs 7th Annual Pacific Islander Spring Celebration happening this coming Thursday May 9th, 2024. La Escuelita 6:30pm-8:30pm. We look forward to celebrating student academic excellence, perfect attendance and of course our Senior Class of 2024. Come out for a fun evening of community and cultural celebration. Fun day at the Marysville Bok Kai parade! Thank you to all of our Lincoln families that came out to support today! We definitely represented Oakland, OUSD and our Lincoln school pride.
