Skyline High School held its first Asian & Pacific Islander graduation ceremony! Thank you to our student led committee and also to school admin for supporting this great milestone. We look forward to watching this celebration grow in partnership across OUSD. Congratulation class of 2024 Titans!

Oakland Tech held its very first Asian and Pacific Islander senior class graduation ceremony. Student leaders organized and led a fun evening that included community performances and invited speakers. Thank you organizing committee and adult allies that came together to make it a success. Congratulations class of 2024!

A group of OUSD students were invited to Stanford to share their classroom experiences as Pacific Islanders. This cohort of Stanford’s Master degree teachers learned about how to create a more inclusive classroom for not just Pacific Islander students but for all students. Great job ladies! You all represented OUSD and your families well!

To celebrate Pacific Grove’s Pioneering Chinese Fishing Community, Lincoln elementary students and families visited Monterey to participate in the Walk of Remembrance. Students visited the museum of natural history, the aquarium and enjoyed a beautiful day in Monterey. Thank you to our staff at Lincoln and our community allies whose efforts and contributions of time and resources makes field trips like this possible. A special thank you to the team at the UC Berkeley Chinese Alumni Foundation for their support of our Chinese students and community.

Thank you for always welcoming our office and providing space to join you in celebrating our Asian Pacific Islander students and community. AYPAL’s Spring Celebration. From political education, leadership development and Arts Activism, AYPAL has been a long standing force in Oakland of addressing the marginalization of API youth voices in the Bay.

End of year celebrations are the best! What a great week celebrating with our Pacific Islander students across the district sharing knowledge and culture with our school communities. What a way to close out the year!

Congratulations to all of our Pacific Islander honor roll students. Thank you for all of your hard work and efforts to achieve academic excellence. We celebrate and honor you. Thank you families, friends, leaders and community for supporting our students on their journey. It was a great night!

OUSDs 7th Annual Pacific Islander Spring Celebration happening this coming Thursday May 9th, 2024. La Escuelita 6:30pm-8:30pm. We look forward to celebrating student academic excellence, perfect attendance and of course our Senior Class of 2024. Come out for a fun evening of community and cultural celebration. Thank you to all the hands that made the SWANA assembly at Fremont High School a success! It was great to see community leaders, youth and community from across Oakland celebrate together in solidarity.
