We are so proud to offer many enrichments both during the school day but also as part of our expanded learning partnership with Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) ✨

This year, we have several NEW enrichments coming to our afterschool program including bonita_the_bumblebee_ 2COACHU Ultimate Impact Rob Skate Academy and a new Rocket News yearbook club! Don’t forget to sign up for expanded learning!!

At KDA, we know learning takes place both inside the classroom but also OUTSIDE! By taking students to real-life examples of what we’re learning about, we are able to make the learning more meaningful. This year we have many new and exciting field trips planned for our Rockets! 🚀 🚌

We are so excited to continue our partnership with Oakland Goes Outdoors to bring every class on a field trip focused on connecting to our local environment and amazing parks and even host our annual 5th grade camping trip! Additionally, through our SSC and TK partnership with Rotary Club of Oakland, we have prioritized funds to make sure all classes can visit additional places for learning like museums, zoos/aquariums, sporting events, urban gardens, and more! Be ready for adventure this year!

Last week our 4th and 5th graders had the unforgettable experience of kayaking in our own Bay! Students learned how to conquer their fear of the water, how to steer a kayak, and even got to see local wildlife like harbor seals who swam right by to check us out! 🦭

At KDA, we know that real learning takes place both in and outside of the classroom, and we make it a priority to get our students out into the community for hands-on experiential learning. DID SOMEONE SAY RJ DAY?! How about RJ WEEK?!

At KDA we do it BIG for !!!! Throughout the week our peer rj leaders facilitated circles across all grade levels, and hosted an AMAZING Spring Fest event on Wednesday where students and families made take home talking pieces, engaged in mural painting, face paint, circle games, and FUN!
