FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENING EVENTS
In addition to the college-sponsored program, we are planning two events just for our class: an informal gathering on Friday night and a special class dinner on Saturday, where Romeo Garcia will act as MC, and talented members of our class will provide some musical entertainment.

We do hope you’ll be able to join the fun!

You may have seen that our first giving day, our Day For Oxy, was an extraordinary success. We were truly blown away and humbled by the outpouring of support we received from our community, including alumni, faculty, staff, students, current and future parents, and brand new friends to the College. Together, we raised an incredible $1,342,189 from 2,295 donors (546% of our 420-donor goal)! Our Advancement Services team is still hard at work entering donations that came in offline, so I expect those numbers will grow even more. These much-needed funds will directly support our current and incoming students, particularly to address the growing, critical need for financial aid.

We couldn't have imagined a more heartening response to this new initiative, especially during such an uncertain time. It's a testament to the strength of our Oxy community and the compassion of alumni like you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for supporting Day For Oxy and encouraging your class to do the same. You helped inspire 39 of your classmates to give to Day For Oxy, for a total of $8,435! The value of this giving participation is immeasurable, and includes gifts from first-time donors, alumni who hadn't given in several years, and many who gave an additional or increased gift in honor of Day For Oxy. I hope you feel great hearing this result and knowing that you helped establish a new Founders Day tradition.

Thank you for all you do for your alma mater. We are lucky to have you all as part of the Oxy family.

Just in case you didn’t get the news, our 40th reunion has been cancelled for 2020; but “might” be held in 2021 with the other classes. All is dependent on Oxy’s ability to host twice as many people as they normally would. If anyone has a large Zoom or other meeting account, maybe we could have virtual happy hour on Saturday, June 13th? Post ideas in the comments.

All donations, no matter the size, count toward the 420 goal as well as toward our Class of 1980 gift. Even though we can’t celebrate together this June, let’s celebrate in spirit! Maybe you will consider donating $40 in honor of our 40th reunion?
