The scoreboard only tells part of the story. Looking back on this season fills us with nothing but gratitude and pride for what this team accomplished. The girls ended up going 25-6, with countless records broken, milestones reached, and memories that will last a lifetime.
We want to start off by thanking our two seniors Madison Kelley and Adaline Martens for their dedication to the program. These two started all five years and had an overall record of 93-52. Their hard work, dedication, and leadership will be missed next year but we can’t wait to see where their next chapters take them.
Even though Madison and Adaline will not be active players in the program next year, they left their mark in the record book and on the program.
Madison Kelley leaves with the school records for career hits (170), RBIs in a season (46), career RBIs (162), home runs in a season (6), and career home runs (14). She also reached the impressive milestones of 150 career hits, 100 career runs, and 150 career RBIs. Madison was named Honorable Mention All-Conference, Second Team All-Conference, First Team All-Conference, Class 1A All-District, Class 1A First Team All-State, Western Iowa Conference All-Academic, and Class 2A Academic All-State.
Adaline Martens leaves with the school records for career hits (170), doubles in a season (15), career doubles (45), triples in a season (4), and career triples (10). She also reached the impressive milestones of 150 career hits and 150 career runs. Adaline was named Honorable Mention All-Conference, Second Team All-Conference, First Team All-Conference, Class 1A State All-Tournament Team, Western Iowa Conference All-Academic, Class 2A All-District, and Class 2A Second Team All-State.
Many other records, milestones, and awards were achieved this year.
Sophia Fenner – First Team All-Conference, Class 2A All-District, Class 2A Third Team All-State, 100 career hits, 150 career runs, and the school record for career runs (152).
Kayden Schnack – Second Team All-Conference, 100 career hits, and 100 career runs.
Lillian Reed – Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Sydney Somers – Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Peyton Schafer – First Team All-Conference, Class 2A All-District, Class 2A Second Team All-State, 100 career hits, 100 career RBIs, and 400 career strikeouts.
Team Records – Team home runs in a season (25), team RBIs in a season (247), and team runs in a season (305).
Even though the season didn't end the way we had hoped, we'd like to thank our parents, families, fans, and the entire Riverside community for your unwavering support throughout the season. Whether at home or on the road, your encouragement and school pride meant the world to our team. We are grateful to represent such an amazing community and couldn't have done it without you.
