A Giving Tuesday REQUEST for the non-profit community center that the Sustainable Living Roadshow helped catalyze in 2011, PLACE for Sustainable Living. This month is our 9th anniversary and our center has suffered 75% loss of income since the shelter-in-place order was issued. We did receive a 45% rent reduction for April and May, but we still have over $3000 in monthly expenses. We had savings to cover 2 months of this deficit, but we will run out soon if we do not receive some support. Since the Shelter-In-Place order was recently extended and we did not receive any pandemic relief from the SBA or other grants we applied for, we are asking for our extended community to help us during this crucial time. Instead of a CSA, we are asking friends to please participate in our CSS, or Community Supported Space. Like listener supported radio, its community supported programming that comes from our center.
We have launched https://www.patreon.com/placecommunity to help grow a network of patrons to support our work. Despite being closed to the public, PLACE has been growing herbs, making medicines and distributing food and hygiene kits to seniors and immuno-compromised neighbors in our houseless communities. Additionally we are moving our educational classes to an online platform to continue spreading knowledge of resiliency, regeneration, and urban gardening.
Please consider becoming a monthly supporter thru Patreon, or consider teaching a class or participating in an online event with us. If interested in proposing an event or class, please go here- https://www.place.community/propose
If a one time donation is all you can do, you can either PayPal ([email protected]) or Venmo (-community). Thank you so much for sharing this around and pitching in how you are able.
