Great news for Oakland. Carroll Fife, Oakland City Council - D3 introduced a 45-day moratorium (the longest allowed in CA) for data centers in Oakland which the entire City Council approved last night after a month of heavy-duty work getting all the other council members on board. KTVU quoted Wholly H2O's ED, Elizabeth Dougherty, about impacts to the MOKELUMNE RIVER by adding data centers anywhere in Alameda County. Now our goal is a permanent ban in Oakland, neighboring cities and the entire county of Alameda. Congratulations to the County and City of SF, which also passed a data center moratorium yesterday. The wave is spreading across California and ther US. We also need to stop the associated manufacturing. Don't be afraid to say it out loud. We join Yosemite Alliance and many other groups in urging a NO vote on Proposition 45 on the November ballot. The info below is from Yosemite Alliance.

Under the guise of streamlining housing, Prop 45 would severely weaken the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and fast-track many controversial projects, including dams, logging and data centers. Rather than providing targeted reforms for specific problems, it creates sweeping new shortcuts for a broad range of projects

Prop 45 would curtail public participation, narrow consideration of alternatives, weaken Tribal consultation, and limit judicial accountability.

Are there soooooooo many things to learn about the Berkeley's waterfront along the Strawberry Creek outflow? Oh goodness, yes. We're just starting a water quality, community garden, and art project at Josie de la Cruz Park in City of Oakland - Local Government. We're hoping we can get the park staff to allow us to put up a board like this to first get ideas from the Fruitvale Community and Fruitvale Community Garden folks!
